Christine’s Daily Writing Prompt: The witch doesn’t burn in this one
Burning The Fears
I’m frightened, and I’m too scared to wait.
And knowingly, I’m arriving late.
The ghouls are spying from the hill.
And lower fools are poisoning her will.
Underneath her, a wicker complete.
Above, she’s suspended from a stake.
The bonfires started, against the rules.
And the crowds rejoicing, as the fire drools.
Waiting agog, for her garments to ignite.
The flames are sparking for her, on this night.
And the mob’s listening for her ungodly screams.
But there’s not a whimper, within she beams.
And secretly, I see her black cats drowning tears,
Are extinguishing all her burning fears.

Here I present the music I’m listening to this morning, from an Irish singer/songwriter Lisa Hannigan. I hope enjoy her singing, and you might like to see more of her on YouTube….
Lisa Hannigan: Lyrics.
“We, The Drowned”
We, the drowned
Hold our hollow hearted ground
Til we swallow ourselves down
AgainWe, the ashes,
We spend our days like matches
And burned ourselves as black as
The end.
We know not the fire in which we burn
But we sing and we sing
And the flames grow higher.
We read not the pages which we turn
But we sing, and we sing, and we sing, and we sing
We, the wrong,
We the sewn up and long gone,
Were before and all along
Like this
We, the drowned
The lost and found out,
We are all finished again.
Today I’ve added another Haiku to my piece from yesterday to create a dual Haiku, I hope it doesn’t detract from the heartfelt intentions of my original Haiku, and I’ve also added another piece of glorious music by Ludovico Einaudi. Thank you Kate, of Calmkate, for the excellent photo prompt
Hello dear readers/followers, I’ve not taken much notice, but it seems I’ve been blogging here on WordPress for TWO years…. To celebrate the occasion, I’m re-posting one of my original poems from June/July 2017…..
“The Joke”, a song by Brandi Carlile. the lyrics(below) fascinate me, and I hope you enjoy my presentation today.
The Joke, Lyrics.
You’re feeling nervous, aren’t you, boy?
With your quiet voice and impeccable style
Don’t ever let them steal your joy
And your gentle ways, to keep ’em from running wild
They can kick dirt in your face
Dress you down, and tell you that your place
Is in the middle, when they hate the way you shine
I see you tugging on your shirt
Trying to hide inside of it and hide how much it hurts
Let ’em laugh while they can
Let ’em spin, let ’em scatter in the wind
I have been to the movies, I’ve seen how it ends
And the joke’s on them
You get discouraged, don’t you, girl?
It’s your brother’s world for a while longer
We gotta dance with the devil on a river
To beat the stream
Call it living the dream, call it kicking the ladder
They come to kick dirt in your face
To call you weak and then displace you
After carrying your baby on your back across the desert
I saw your eyes behind your hair
And you’re looking tired, but you don’t look scared
Let ’em laugh while they can
Let ’em spin, let ’em scatter in the wind
I have been to the movies, I’ve seen how it ends
And the joke’s on them
Let ’em laugh while they can
Let ’em spin, let ’em scatter in the wind
I have been to the movies, I’ve seen how it ends
And the joke’s on them
