A Writers Aviary

A cold winters morn

Another new dawn

I’m refreshed, I’m alive

I roll myself over

Onto my tummy

Elbows on my pillow

The curtains are open

Gazing out the window

Through the leaves and red flowers

Of my Jazzi Bougainvillea

My courtyard’s looking homely

A havens scenery

My forest fernery

Full of natures greenery

I’m feeling cosy and dreamy

Comfy in my writers aviary

Wondering And Wandering Again

Do you every have that vacant feeling

Silently in a void, wandering

Darkness has fallen

Clouds shroud the moon

Misty rain cools the night-air

Wondering what happened to your day-time

Hours of down-time

What have you done

Memories of your day have gone

Nothing in your hand

Blankness in your mind

Decoding untold stories

Writing on pure white pages

Words of invisible ink

Ink that runs away

Eloping with your pen

To find a better day

Leaving you empty again

3.2.1. Quote Me! (Topic: Literature)

Thank you Laura Denise of ,  https://ardorsgarden.wordpress.com   for creating and selecting me to play in 3.2.1. Quote Me! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed our in-depth conversation about the changing attitudes toward poetry and literature.
Literature is now the topic for this fun extension! Grab a quote about literature off Google or share your own wisdom. Create your own post or comment and tag.
My two aphorisms I’m contributing to the theme are…

Not all literature is perfect, none of us are perfect – Ivor Steven

Stories emanate from the heart. Literature lives in every heartbeat – Ivor Steven

Here are the game guidelines:
1. Thank the Selector
2. Post 2 quotes for the dedicated Topic of the Day.
3. Select 3 bloggers to take part in ‘3.2.1 Quote Me!’

Tit Bits #9

I’ve a red-hot poker in my belly

I’m bleeding fiery ember ashes

Choking my blackened reality

Blinded by my burning eyelashes

…….

Please don’t kick me

Pick me up, I’m free

Carry me one more mile

My stone-face will smile

…….

Green blankets everything

Under our earth’s blue sky

From here to your side

…….

May you balance like a petite ballerina

Toe-pointing your way through the tulips

May you taste fragrances of truth and pleasure

Tip-toeing gently upon your goddesses flower

Remembrance Colours

Time bygone, This Lost Shadow

Words written, your May Day

Timed out at one-fifteen

An afternoon, vividly clear

Words written, a tragic play

Remembering my Gracious Lady

A Midday Sun, you were gold

Words of moonlight, and silver too

Words under stars, celestial and bold

Words upon oceans, purples and blue

Words on fire, Smouldering beams

Words Rain In May, your favourite green

Words cry tears, Liquid Joy and mellow

Words an eternal vault, In My Mind

Words of sorrow and tomorrow

Words of love, you were my dove

Life’s colours, you were every hue

A life story, coloured and true

The words in Italic, are all referring to poems of mine that have appeared on my blog site here since I started on June 7th 2017,  https://ivors20.wordpress.com/2017/11/09/this-lost-shadow-3/   https://ivors20.wordpress.com/2017/09/06/gracious-lady/   https://ivors20.wordpress.com/2017/10/19/a-midday-sun/   https://ivors20.wordpress.com/2017/07/07/smoldering/   https://ivors20.wordpress.com/2018/01/12/rain-in-may/             https://ivors20.wordpress.com/2017/06/07/a-few-words/ https://ivors20.wordpress.com/2018/04/17/in-my-mind/

CANDICE LOUISA DAQUIN

Poems by Candice Daquin, of TheFeatheredSleep, are always thought provoking, and I’m pleased to recommended her works to all my readers.

candice daquin

Daquin’s own life, traveling from her native France, via England, Canada and finally the US, has brought a myriad of experiences that others have often been able to tap into via her writing. A collection of lives really, and with this, she tries to weave greater meaning through poetry and touch those who experience similar questions, doubts, and hopes. Surely this is what writing attempts in its very human form?

Daquin’s themes include feminism in its complex, everyday form, and the experience of being a woman, a gay woman, a bi-racial woman, a bi-cultural woman and finally, a Jewish woman of Egyptian extraction (Mizrahi) and how this sits with the world’s current revolt between the dominant faiths.

“I have been told from readers of my published and non-published works that reading poetry which resonates with your emotions, helps you see things clearer, assists in remembering what really matters and enables you…
