Today I am presenting a poem, that didn’t make the final list, and was ‘cut’ from my new Book “Tullawalla”… Although I am not sure why I did not include “Haven’t Seen You for a While” in the book. ‘The poem was one that I placed in Carole’s funeral pamphlet’ (9 years ago)….

Haven’t Seen You for A While

Woke up dreaming of your petite smile

And pondering, I haven’t seen you for a while

That gentle smile making you so cute

So pleasing and alluring seems to suit

Dreaming of your grace and gorgeous style

And thinking, I haven’t seen you for a…

Outlaws Without Claws

Here I am without resistance

Waiting for existance

To give me due cause

As to when my heart is allowed a pause

Away from lethal claws

And government outlaws

The Faerie Shelter, by Ivor Steven

Beyond the hands of time

In a garden of parsley, sage, and thyme

Live faeries of magic and rhyme

Dancing in the midnight faerie pantomime

Under the moonlit sky they frolic and roam

Among reeds of the field-mouse’s hidden home

Where the wise owl broods atop his mushroom

And dragonflies hover above mystical gnomes

Here guardian sprites defend the crimson forest

That stoically shelter Saraswati the Hindu goddess

As she dutifully protects the faeries secret hamlets

From horrid humans and their gargantuan spirits

Burnt at ThCross

Oh, Children

I’m deeply saddened

Your innocence lost

Burnt by the cross

You’re not to blame

For this baptism of shame

By the priest’s dirty games

Filthy rapists by any other name

Piously veiled by higher Cloth

The Lord’s words, written off

Hidden up darkened sleeves

I cannot see, I no longer believe

On a prayer and a song

The church is doing wrong

Burnt Toast And A Cold Shower

When it’s so hard to get out of my warm bed

I force myself to throw the sheets off

And I face another day again

When the light doesn’t go on above my head

I replace the globe and flick the switch

And I see Again

When my shower hot water turns cold

I patiently wait for the boiler to reheat

And I shall be ready again

When the toaster burns my bread

I turn the grey dial down to three

And I restart again

When the kettle runs bone dry

I dutifully refill the jug

And enjoy a cuppa’ again

When breakfast is done and it’s time to run

I feel the advantage of being alive

And I smile at my world again
