Above The Surface

Inside my creative head

Blooms my minds flowerbed

Nurturing stories not to be misread

I see a pot of sapphire dust and water

The old wizard’s wondrous recipe

And drop by drop the magic potion

Rises beyond a soothing lotion

Above the cloudy clouds cotton wool

My empty sails are only half full

And my mystical galleon ship is drifting

Upon a pool of uncharted writings

Becalmed, I’m listening to a romantic viola

And waiting for a guiding tow from her golden gondola

Below the Surface

This Saturday the Weekend Challenge from ‘Weekly Prompts’ is The Face. Please go and visit their fabulous site by clicking >> https://weeklyprompts.com/2020/09/19/weekend-challenge-the-face/ .. And the below is my response to this weeks prompt.

Below the Surface

I’ve had thorns under my feet

And a rose between my teeth

I’m on a voyage to somewhere, and beyond

And the false façade goes on and on

Left follows right, one of us cannot be wrong

The Small Faces are singing the same old song

And the winter snake-skins have all gone

Lets face it, will I ever truly belong?

The mysterious journey never ends

Until that inevitable finale bend

George said it’s “A long and winding road”

And I’ll face life’s hard curves, unbowed

Half Normal and Half Crazy

Earlier today I was having an on-line video chat with my niece Kerri, in Philadelphia, and during our conversation, we often mentioned, how the world was going “crazy”. So here’s my “crazy” poem, inspired by my “crazy” Philadelphia relatives, Kerri, Joanne and Ken….

Half Normal and Half Crazy

The day’s cold and breezy

Phillip the penguin is going crazy

Excitedly clapping his wings

Waiting for our luncheon fling

He’s jumping and shouting

“We are going on an outing !!”

Despite our masks and the pouring rain

Time has come to leave our quarantine

And savour a fluffy carrot cake again

Drink hot coffee and fizzy champagne

Drown these hazy days of feeling lazy

And resurrect ourselves from going completely crazy

My Sunrise

Here I am re-posting a poem that I recently submitted to be published, however the piece didn’t get accepted, and later on today, I’m going to present this poem on “Go Dog Go Cafe’s” ‘Throwback Friday’ weekly category … but firstly, I’m posting “My Sunrise” here on my site…

My Sunrise

I’ve walked a thousand lonely miles

Looking for her everlasting smile

Gradually scaling Ararat’s steepest cliff

There, sipping from the grail’s cup of youth

I’ve travelled to the edge of time

To find the final word of rhyme

Where my sunrise soared into the sky

To recapture her last goodbye

Then I crawled on my hands

Searching for that broken line in the sand

I’ve dug myself a hole, deep into space

To join her spirit and grace

Releasing my star into the universe

And I awoke, to write more of this verse

Dancing Stardust

Devereaux Frazier and Beth Amanda are currently hosting the Tuesday Writing Prompt Challenge which was started by our star writer Christine Ray. We hope to offer all of you something that will spark your creativity and willingness to participate.
The prompts are designed to be quick challenges that can be written in 10 to 15 minutes, inspire you creatively, are fun, and get everyone interacting. Please post your response to the prompt in the comments below and show your fellow posters some love and support. All members of the Go Dog Go community, including Baristas, are welcome to participate. Feel free to share this post on your own blogs and/or Facebook.

Today’s prompt: sapphire stardust

Dancing Stardust

The morning sky caresses my eyes

Shades of daylight colours, amplified

A cosmos of infinite sapphire stardust

Royal aqua beams, an inviting wanderlust

I’m illuminated on this day, to actually try

Gather up all my blues, that have yet to cry

Pack them in first, don’t waste a chance

There is time left, to travel this vast expanse

My Itmims* craft is waiting, and ready to fly

And traverse through space’s cobalt sky

These alien eyes, sense my universe wants to have a dance

And embrace my star’s everlasting existence

Sunrise Beyond the Cracks

Sunrise Beyond the Cracks

My sage coloured curtains are half open

And the grey cloudy sky is half blue

I see the tree tops are half green

And above their swaying screens

I see last nights fading half moon

Is my world a half empty spoon?

Or is my ocean half full of wishes?

And splashing daylight kisses

Upon nature’s eternal waterfalls

Where misty forest rainbows

Deck her shimmering valley halls

My sunrise beyond the cracks in crumbing walls

A Cool Penguin

Here in Victoria we have the famous ‘Fairy Penguin Parade’ on “Phillip” Island, which is south-east of Melbourne. Because of the current ‘Covid’ restrictions, Phillip Island ‘Nature Parks’ are currently broadcasting live telecasts of the fantastic Penguin Parade, and hopefully this YouTube link will work for you >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGr3V2pwNbo

A Cool Penguin

During these days of low tides

I am again to be shut inside

Today, there is more reasons than one

My courtyard’s devoid of springs sun

And there are only raindrop ripples

On the grounds expanding puddles

And standing there in the pouring rain

Drinking the wet sky, like cascading champagne

Was Phillip the penguin, wryly smiling

And splashing in the cool pool under his webbing

Where Has Time Gone?

I standing was on an iceberg

Near the south pole

Watching the news on Bloomberg

Wanting to know who was in control

Time, never leaves us alone

Time and time again

We say, where has time gone

Nineteen years, since that September pain

Where were you on that day?

When Times Square stood still

As the sky-line fell on Broadway

Testing humanities courage and will
