Blackman’s Lager And Passionfruit Tart

I know a Blackman’s beer taste’s great

And I’m also having a delicious cake

Not sure about their togetherness

Like a bride with no wedding dress

On a palm beach without sand

A sweet passion-fruit tart and a dry lager

Do they go together

First I’ll have a slurp of cold beer

Followed by a bite of that velvet pastry

I’m feeling like a blue shark with no teeth

The lager’s a subtle malt

With a hint of lemony hop

The scrumptious tart’s creamy and soft

With a crispy shortbread crust

Yeah, the day’s mixture of flavours is a blast

Disappointments

Life is full of disappointments

Of our physical and mental laments

There’s the disgruntled type

When we are stood down

Years of loyalty all for nought

Leaving you downcast and distraught

There’s the disheartened letdown

When we are stood-up again

Yesterday’s promise, today’s voiceless ghost

Leaving you an empty chair, and sadly aghast

There’s the frustrated fiasco

When we are stood upon

Months of being a washout, and a physical mess

Leaving your body punished, and almost useless

Dismayed and in disarray

When we are misunderstood

Decades of disenchantment, but undefeated we stay

Knowing we all experience disappointments on life’s causeway

Sunday Lunchtime

Sunday Lunchtime

A sunny Sunday lunchtime

I’m home alone, nothing to do

I decide on a Pakington Street outing

At the quaint Box Office Cafe

I’m by myself

They will be people I know

And perhaps I’ll meet someone new

There’s Beth I see, a regular, and with her puppy too

The Cafe has a dog friendly view

I sit with Beth and little Edith

We order coffee’s, and study the menu

Then two young ladies sit at the adjacent table

I introduce myself, to Amber and Jo

They are interested in what I’m writing

Jokingly, I say, “I’m writing a poem about you”

Then I explain, that the topics, ‘A Memorable Meal’

Smiling, I say, “here we all are, choosing our meals”

We finish our order, and happily chat away

Enjoying our Sunday lunchtime together

And cheeky puppy Edith, gets her pats and scraps too

The Woman In Me

G’day readers, It’s Friday morning here in Australia. I recently made an insignificant little comment on a writer’s post, in the form of a short poem “The Woman In Me”, which I’m now posting here today….

The Woman In Me

Inside every man there is a woman

The mother of his soul

The lady of his heart

The kindness in his touch

The passion in his blood

The woman who fostered, the way he shows love

Tullawalla #12

Hello dear readers and followers, again I must apologise for not being on WordPress and blogging with my normal zest….  I’ve been recovering (ouchie), and arduously  preparing and typing up my Twelve Tullawalla Poetry Booklet….. Wow, what a task I set myself. For new readers that don’t know about these booklets, they are basically the reason why I write poetry. I produce the booklets for the sole purpose of raising funds for my favourite charity organization, the MS Society, in Australia via the MS Charity Shop here in Geelong. And actually all money’s I receive for any of my poetry submissions, I also donate to the MS Society….. Anyhow the booklet is finally completed, and as always, they are available for purchase, either as a hard copy or a PDF format….. All proceeds go to the MS Charity Shop, here in Geelong West….. Please contact me here through my web site page and I can chat about arrangements from there…. Oh, the booklet is called “Tullawalla:  The Sky Above”, and here is the link to my website >> ivors20.wordpress.com

Because it was Leonard Cohen’s birthday this week (21st Sept), I’ll attach this glorious song of his “Joan of Arc”, and his lyrics are superb….

Writeabout – Two

Hello dear readers, as some of you might know, one of my writers groups here in Geelong, is ‘Belmont Page’, and in partnership with the writing group, ‘Writeabout’, from the town of Drysdale, we have self-published a book called “Writeabout – Two”. The book is a collection of short stories, poetry, and free verse, and I’m proud to say, I have nine of my poems represented in the book. I’ve attached my nine poems that were selected to be published below. The book launch was yesterday, where writers and friends from both writing groups gathered, and enjoyed afternoon tea and champagne !!

Morning Illumination

The morning sky caresses my eyes

Shades of daylight colours, amplified

My open curtains welcome, sapphire’s radiance

Shimmering beams, royal and turquoise, advance

I’m illuminated, is this my day, to actually try

Gather up all my blues, yet to die

Pack them in first, don’t waste a chance

There is time left, to travel this vast expanse

My Itmims,* craft is waiting, and ready to fly

And traverse through space’s indigo sky

These alien eyes, sense my universe wants to have a dance

Beyond my star’s, everlasting existence
