A Special Poetry Day

Yesterday I had the privilege to attend a book launch day, for fellow local Geelong poet, Jeremy Palmer. To purchase his book, you can contact Jeremy through the following links >> http://www.jeremypalmerpoetry.com >> http://www.instagram.com/jeremypalmerpoetry >> http://www.facebook.com/jeremypalmerpoetry >>

A Special Poetry Day

A balmy Saturday afternoon

At the Analogue Academy commune

I have not been here to this special venue

Since the start of our world’s year of upheaval

I am attending Jeremy Palmer’s book launch

A poetry book aptly named “Poems of Pilgrimage”

The gathering is probably the maximum allowed

And there is friendly conversation buzzing from the crowd

I sense a clear aura of anticipation

As Jeremy’s readings become our minds hydration

His words are full of harmony and imagination

And he invites us into his heart’s instrumentation

And entertaining the mesmerized audience further

We listen to the glorious voice of a local singer

‘Arjuna’ has written a melody to one of his poems

A fitting finale to the day’s poetry emporium

Here’s a favourite poem of mine from Jeremy’s book

A Fern Called ‘Hope’

A Fern Called “Hope”

I am home again

How did that happen

I wonder about life

Watering my fern called “Hope”

Tell me how

There is more to life

Now that I am home

Eating bananas and ice-cream

Tell me when

There is more to life

Now that I am home

Listening to tunes of mine

Tell me whatever

There is more to life

Now that I am home

Drinking a red wine

Tell me why

There is more to life

Now that I am home

Dreaming of you tonight

Memory Questions

Today I am presenting the “second” ‘5min’ poem that I wrote at Ali Grimsham’s ‘Writing Circle’ Zoom meeting, that I attended on Monday this week, and this was my 4rd session/week with the group, and I am having a delightful time. Here is the page link to get more information about the next writing circle. https://flashlightbatteries.blog/online-writing-circles/ Tickets by donation. All are welcome.

Memory Questions

Where do timeless memories dwell

Why don’t they stay in their padded cell

Where are the corridors of their whisper taunts

How do they escape the deepest of haunts

Why emerge on every celebration day

Who is in charge of the padlock today

Who Hears Me

Again it’s that time of the week where I present another ‘5min’ poem that I have written at one of Ali Grimsham’s ‘Writing Circle’ Zoom meetings that I attend on Monday’s, and this was my 4rd session with the group, and I am having a fantastic time … Here is the page link to get more information about the next writing circle. https://flashlightbatteries.blog/online-writing-circles/ Tickets by donation. All are welcome.

Who Hears Me

My ears are funnels

But I do not want to hear

The voices

My lips do part

But I do not speak

The words

My knees do bend

But I cannot sit

While I can still stand

My eyes are open

But I do not want to see

My shadow falling

In Pieces

Today I’m presenting more of my comments, that I post on other writers articles when I am doing my blogging.. Here below, are words I’ve sent to, Dwight, Colleen, Mich, and Colleen again … and I’ve arrange the stanza’s in an order, so as to read like one ‘poem’ , and I think the different “pieces” blended together ok..

In Pieces

“We are a finite speck of the infinite

Our time is but a spark of light

Our existence is the life of a micro battery

Just an electron of the universe’s hatchery” .. To Dwight

“You are the soft glowing beams of moon light

Illuminating the creation of every day

You are my life’s golden stairway” … To Colleen

“These beautiful dreamy words from your heart

Do tickle the celestial sparkles from my soul-mate” … To Mich

“I have seen the eye of every violent storm

And now I rest easy on the station’s outgoing platform” .. To Colleen

Creation ??

I’ve been very busy lately, conversing with my publisher about my upcoming book, so my poetry is taking backstage at the moment, but as ‘Dwight’ would say, “You’ve always got that ‘stash’ of anecdote comments that you store away”…. Well here’s a little satirical comment that wrote to Beth, of I didn’t have my glasses on…

Creation ??

Eve’s enticing apple

Fell from God’s tree

And hit young Newton

On his hairy head

Then the apple rolled away

Into Bell’s telephone box

And here begun “All Creation”

The first born “Apple iPhone Box”

Swan

Honouring the ancient lakes of Aberdeen

Are you our planet’s queen

Shyly overseeing this world’s fading green

Serenely grateful and gracious

Solemnly thoughtful and virtuous

Calmly valorous and veracious

No matter your birthright

You are equally adorned black or white

Colour is not your feathers blight

But nature’s pearls of delight

Proudly the Music Plays

The inauguration was an awesome event, and here in Australia I could sense the importance of this day, and here is my little tribute to the occasion…

Proudly the Music Plays

The grand day was but a windfall

Of upstanding pyramids in time

And I, a tiny cog in the world’s clock

Was proud to have my feet back on this rock

Where I could hear the sounds of nature

Playing a harmonious tune about the future

And her music became the ink in my quill

Floating upon every solemn word I did spill

A Moments Reprieve

A Moments Reprieve

Yesterday’s roadside kill

Was an accident, written by my quill

This morning, I spoke to our broken world

And we agreed, to give life another whirl

During moments like these

Here feeling a summer breeze

Caress my sweaty brow

I rest under our trees leafy bows

Where I do savour the air I breathe

Where I do relax and take my leave

To appreciate a moments reprieve

As I drift into my world of make believe

With My Dragon for protection at my side

And those mischievous faeries as my trusty guides
