There’s Room.
“It’s A Small World”, they say.
My dog, she’s small.
The little courtyard is hers.
My house is small.
The lounge/dining, is enough.
My kitchen is like a galley.
The laundry/bathroom, is clean.
My bedroom is broad.
A double-bed, and studio desk.
My bookcase and humble vaults.
A display of history and wine.
My room, resonating Leonard’s ballads.
My room, my words and dreams.
My room, a song for you.
“Oh”, where are you.
Ivor Steven.

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Thanks Colleen, I haven’t had a place to call home for a long time, “My Girl” and I are now comfortable.

I’m glad to hear that. I have long believed that everyone needs their own space. It doesn’t have to be large, but it has to be ‘theirs’. I’m glad you are comfortable.

Your house may be small but your heart and soul are big!

I love your home and the way you describe it. Especially, the wood floors. Is that real brick on the wall? I’ll bet your girl does some slipping and sliding when she gets going. I have some wood flooring , and my big dog will slide on it when I call him for dinner.

Yes, a brick wall, and have another one in my bedroom, love the earthy feel. and the wood floors were one of the reasons I bought here. And yes, Lily slips and slides on the floor, like your dog, and they give you so much joy. Thankyou for liking my description of “Home”, I find it easy to write about things close to my heart.

Beautiful poem. A lovely home. I like the wooden floor and chairs, like mine. Love Leonard Cohen too.

Leonard Cohen is the biggest influence behind everything I do in writing.

A lovely home, Ivor, made better, no doubt, with Leonard for company.
