Haiku
The Forest
Tunnel grows wider
Walking out of the forest
The light glows brighter
“All The World Is Green”
When you became my wife
I risked it all against the sea
To have a better lifeMarie you’re the wild blue sky
And men do foolish things
You turn kings into beggars
And beggars into kingsPretend that you owe me nothing
And all the world is green
We can bring back the old days again
And all the world is green
The face forgives the mirror
The worm forgives the plow
The questions begs the answer
Can you forgive me somehow?
Maybe when our story’s over
We’ll go where it’s always spring
The band is playing our song again
And all the world is green
Pretend that you owe me nothing
And all the world is green
We can bring back the old days again
And all the world is green
The moon is yellow silver
Oh, the things that summer brings
It’s a love you’d kill for
And all the world is green
He is balancing a diamond
On a blade of grass
The dew will settle on our graves
When all the world is green

I love this haiku Ivor! A nice tribute to yourself coming out of the dark and heading to the light at the end of the tunnel. 🙂

Thanks Walt, I’ve had that lovely photo for a few years, and I really wanted a piece of meaning to go with it, and today I found the appropriate words

Hi Vanessa, yes I love Tom Waits and like doing Haiku’s. I’m a bit of a novice at them but I seem have the knack now.

PS, how’s the health these days, Ivor?

I’m going well considering, I had a second minor stroke 6 weeks ago, was in hospital for another 10 days. However since then, I’ve been walking every day, bike exercise twice a day, and 2 x 10min exercise sessions, plus I’m doing rehab twice a week. Yep, I’m trying hard to get myself fit for my trip to America (I’m still going) on the 24th of April, 6 weeks and 2 days to go ….. Thanks for asking Vanessa xxx

Wow…well done on the exercise and rehab. that is inspiring!
I’m glad you are still going! Will be in my prayers, Ivor, that you keep going on the up trajectory xo

Your poem makes me think of all you have been through (the dark times) and how you are walking into the light (better times and wonderful adventures) ahead! 🙂
HUGS!!! 🙂
