G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Thanks Paul, I’ve dabbling in them for a year, and I’ve been told my style of writing seems to be suited to the format of Haiku. I’m not sure, but I do enjoy writing them and trying to achieve that essence of “cutting” in the Haiku 😊

Most likely I am only repeating to you what you already know — and know better than me — but when I was studying Japanese history and culture 40 years ago, I was charmed to learn that the aim of most Japanese haiku poets is ideally to reference nature in such a way that the reader can tell which season of the year is being referred to. I guess it’s something of a traditional challenge they take on to make things more interesting to them. But I was also taught it’s optional whether to take up that challenge.
