Waiting
The earth is waiting
Sick of human’s, and their time wasting
Waiting for their promised cheers
Waiting for less destructive years
Will they give her resolutions of better times?
Will they read, Thor’s neon signs
Will they notice, a smoke covered sun?
Will they be able to breath the air, as a united one?
The earth cannot watch, nor wait
While human’s feed their own greedy plate
Why are they celebrating?
Like blind fools, that are always pretending
As if nothing is going wrong
Can’t they hear the whales crying songs?
Can’t they see the polar caps are melting?
Can’t they taste the venom of government’s lying?
In the following video/song, if you could metaphorically place earth and human’s between the lyrics, you might understand why I chose this song by Damien Rice..
Ivor Steven (c) Jan 2020

I have found many people to watch and learn from on Youtube Ivor. I love discovering those who are trying to reduce their carbon footprint, who give back to the land while they try to live more simply with and from the land. There is so much to learn that we can do.

Very poignant and timely poem Ivor. Why are we not listening to the earth?? It is terrifying. The smoky haze from the fires reached us all the way over here in NZ. I hope you and yours are all ok 💛

A few other bloggers have written on the same terror in Australia. We experienced horrible smoke and haze when they burned the forests in Indonesia. When will we ever learn. Sigh.

Hard for me to picture after the cold rainy yet fresh clean air just weeks ago. I hope you and your plants are doing OK. We need to all do a little bit who else will?

On another note though Ivor a contact in America just told me of 103 fires 67 were deliberately lit by adults and 31 by children…. so its not all on climate….although it is a huge contributing factor.

Over here, the television news reports on these fires daily. We were told they were started deliberately, and have spread because of the freak temperatures and lack of rain. I feel for those families who have lost their loved ones and homes, not to mention the poor animals that have been injured or killed.

Oh Sue it’s horrendous, even Geelong was covered in smoke today from the Gippsland fires, 500 miles away, wow, it’s very bad…, Ivor is ok, but we are all feeling for those who are suffering, and I’m afraid there is already too many who have died…. 😢💙🌏

I keep up with Brian (Bushboy) the fire reached the edge of his property but fortunately was put out. So very very sad.

You know this brings the tears. It’s so sad and so scary.
I have especially been praying for the people, wildlife/animals, and lands in Australia.

Keep praying my dear Carolyn, I’m safe, but it’s horrendous for those in the affected areas. There was thick smoke over Geelong today, and we’re 500 miles away. There been far too many deaths already, and the number of animals lost is catastrophic… The situation is uncomprehensible.
It’s now the biggest fire the world has ever seen. There is places in NSW, that have been burning for over 2 months. We are all devastated here with so many people that have been affected, so many deaths, so many fire-fighters have lost their lives. It’s terribly sad.. and I’m crying… That’s me… I have friends, but thankfully they have all reported that they are safe 🌏💙🌏😢

Ivor, first of all apologies for my long absence from reading your lovely poetry. It seems this last year has seen a depleted energy in me which is beginning to turn around.
Secondly, a happy new year, Ivor. I hope and pray that it will be for all of Australia.
I have family living in and around Paynesville near Lakes Entrance. They can see the fires burning in the skies that turn a golden orange. It has been a worrying time. Thank God they are all safe. Today, however, will be an extreme weather day in the eastern states. We had it here yesterday. It sparked yet more fires in an already devastated Adelaide Hills. Half of Kangaroo Island is ablaze with unstoppable fires and fears are the whole island will be affected. It is such a beautiful, largely unspoilt national park.
The losses are devastatinig. Yet many people are resilient, courageous battlers who will rebuild. And nature will restore itself. It is so surreal to see a burnt forest dotted with lush, vibrant new growth as the many native species that need fire to regenerate start to grow.
We are OK here in the CBD but there is a smoke haze in the air. We had one night when all doors and windows had to be closed it was so thick.
We need rain to fall so badly. Everywhere. Gentle, long term, soaking, cleansing and nourishing.
Be well, Ivor x
