G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems. These hail stones are very hard. My brother once had bruises on his back as he was caught in one riding back from school.
Nice haiku!!

I like the Haiku, Ivor. I have not experienced hail for many years, but it is not something I am likely to forget! Your poem describes it perfectly!
I am sorry you are back in lockdown, but be glad you are. Here, you have to lock yourself down, because official policy has its head in the sand, and there are enough oblivious people out there to keep the virus going. At least, that’s how it seems to me.
Be well and happy. Cheryl

Great Haiku Ivor, after the horror of pandemic all we need is few icy balls on our skulls to jolt us out of surreality of the present times. Hope you are doing fine.

I’ve had cold toes today, but I’ll warm them up in bed soon, only 9.00pm, but the eyes are shutting down…

A hot cup of coffee is the perfect way to deal with a hailstorm outside.

At the moment every day is a new first….
every day there’s a new sunrise
every day there’s a new surprise
as look at every day with fresh eyes
I don’t always see blue skies
I don’t always feel happy and wise
Today I’m a bronze statue in Levis’
And I’ll be satisfied with third prize

Wow! Great photos and great haiku! I could feel the hail, and the brr-y cold that gave them life! 😀 I like that you described them as “icy snowballs”…they come out of the sky already formed.
I’m always fascinated by hail. Fortunately, I’ve only seen and felt little pea sized balls. I have friends who live in places where the hail can get so big (they say like golf ball size) it damages cars. 😦
When you saw the hail did you say, “Oh, hell, it’s hail”?!?! HA! 🙂
When we were kids we collected some in cups and put them in the freezer to save. Ha! I can’t remember how long we kept them in there. I do remember at some point our mom telling us to get them out of the freezer. HA!
(((HUGS))) 🙂
