locked down and locked up
shut in and shut up
In this garbage virus bin
what is my holy sin
has Judas already been?
where am I going
with my green tambourine
and this broken violin
anyhow, whoβs listening?
am I still dreaming
about being a human being?
about falling backwards
where the stars are flying outwards
with thoughts looking upwards
questions I bring
songs I sing
answers live within
every day there’s a new sunrise
every day there’s a new surprise
as I look at every day through fresh eyes
I don’t always see blue skies
I don’t always feel happy and wise
Today I’m a bronze statue in Levis’
And I’ll be satisfied with third prize
Ivor Steven (c) August 2020

Ivor, you are always first class in my estimation! I always look forward to your posts! No one, as you know, always feels “happy and wise,” but you always express yourself wisely in your poems.
All the best! Cheryl

I can relate to wishing for freedom. Florida opened up too soon with disastrous results. Hospitals in Tampa, just north of us, are getting volunteer medical personnel because they are overwhelmed. We continue to self-isolate, as we are in a high-risk category. Our illustrious president is still pushing for schools to open! Maybe it’s time for a piece of cake!

Haha… yes, a piece of cake with my breakfast, would make for a fun start to my day …. I have to go shopping for supplies today, maybe I should add a cake to my “Essentials” list ??

Ivor,
It is a very long way from the 1960’s with promises of peace, love and rock and roll! May you always remember to play the green tambourine of your mind regardless of what is happening in the world! Mona

You’ve captured how well all feel. A powerful, poem!
And I AM listening, MyFriend! So, please keep playing your tambourine! (The tambourine songs you shared here made me smile! π ) And keep sharing your thoughts and your heart in poems! Your words help us!
Oh, remember that old saying… “Eat cake, drink coffee, and be merry for tomorrow the cake store might be closed.” π π (On a serious note, it breaks my heart that so many stores are closed (some temporarily, some for good π¦ ), but we must keep people safe and alive. )
