Todays poem is a repost from 2 years ago, and today my gorgeous plant Blue Statice (Limonium perezii Blue) is in full bloom again. And a year ago the poem was published in a local anthology called “Writeabout- Two”
My Blue Statice Blooms Today
Love is a dirty word when I’m alone
Nervously shaking to the bone
Hearing myself rattle unseen
Anxiously sweating, feeling unclean
Awakening, my eyes slowly open
Nightmares diminish, now forgotten
The wind carries sunlight through my dawn’s clouds
My courtyard flowers, stand radiant and proud
Listening, I hear the bird’s morning calls
My gloominess gradually stalls
Sounds of music vibrate the walls
Nature’s crescendos fill my heart’s empty halls
Love is a dirty word no more
Love is within my skins every pore

Oh! and SIGH! 🙂 Such a beautiful poem! The emotion in it is strong…I can feel the fear and then the relief and joy! That last line is perfection! Genuine love does permeate every pore and then take up residence as home. 🙂
HUGS!!!
PS…a beautiful song and photo, too! 🙂

Oh I woke up with the wind blowing and the sun shining, after a bad dream night, and the poem instantly fell into place, as if it was meant to be, and I really like those sort of writing impulses, but it

Oh, so sorry to hear you had a bad dream night. 😦
I had a dream last night that seemed bad in the dream, but after waking up I thought it silly. 🙂

The relief of waking from nightmares to love in your heart has got to be such a strong emotion. You opening your eyes and ‘seeing’ the things that awaken your safety and comfort….I can feel these things in your words Ivor.

Yes Colleen it was all so clear to me this morning 😊 Oh I didn’t get that day rest and relaxation. My electrician decided to come over and put my downlights in, 3 in the bedroom and 3 in the dining/kitchen area. Yep 6 holes in the ceiling and lots of dust everywhere, it’s nearly 8.00pm, and I’ve just finished cleaning up the mes, but I’m so happy with the result. I think there’s a poem on the way here for this interesting day. 🙄

I look forward to it.
I sympathize with your dust. We’ve had construction going on here since October. I am ready to powerwash the INSIDE of my house. 🙂

This is lovely, Ivor, and thank goodness for the uplifting final stanza. I don’t like to think of you depressed. And just to prove that I come here for the poetry (and to see your smiling face) I didn’t listen to Pink Floyd 🙂

Do you ever find that poems take their own direction – you think they’re going one way, but the words carry you somewhere else?

Love is a dirty word when you are digging in your garden tending your flowers!

I think gardening and love are a wonderful analogy Dwight. The more you get dirty by putting in the work, the better the result and response you get back from the garden. 💙🌏😊
