A Finite in the Infinite

Curiosity opens my eyes at first light

I venture beyond my cocoon of fright

And begin to see the world’s perceived fears

Wingless, I crawl away from the sea of tears


Tired of romancing the stone

I threw a rock into the ocean

Hit the great white ghost in the head

And fed the hungry seagulls more bread


This is no time to throw the towel in

I just heard the bell for round two ring

The power of the universe glows at night

And I am but a finite in the infinite

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. The songs an ELO one ‘We are Born To Die’… yes I enjoyed the 2nd verse too… (The Great White Ghost is Trump)…. and the hungry seagulls are his followers…. Whoops, Ivor’s piece of wit…. Oh..and the rock I threw, fell off his racist Wall… whoops, again…

    1. Thank you Eugenia, I was just reminding this human race we are but a dot in our universe.
      The 2nd verse is a bit witty.. I find a rock fallen from Trump’s “Wall” and throw it out into the ocean, where I hit “The Great White Ghost” in the head, but still his hungry supporters want more 👻😊
