G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

a practical outlook Ivor, glad you are back to your cafe life!
nice song π
Ivor, it does my heart good to know you are once again in the cozy cafe eating such a yummy-looking cake and sharing your poems with your favorite waitress! The poem is beautiful. We will enjoy life as long as we live. β€
Haha.. that cake was delicious.. I didn’t have a title for my poem, but I had the cake sitting there in from of me… Hence the cake became my title.. π°ππ
Aw, YAY! This is such and encouraging post…photo, poem, and music!
I’m so glad you had your cake!!! π
This makes me smile SO BIG!!! π
HUGS!!! π
Yay.. the cake was delicious, and Alex loved my poem… Some self reflection at the start, and then I began living in the present, with a friendly smile to make my day.. πππ
Oh Ivor! What a profound mix of words and music! Such a moving, thought and feeling provoking song but offset with the absolute wonderful, comforting imagery of a pastry, poetry reading, and chat with a friendly waitress… This stirred so much in me. Now I must write myself with this morning coffee… β€
I’m rapt with your super comments Laura, and yes my piece is quite a mixture of senses and emotions, with a happy crescendo finish.. and I’m a fan of ‘Poets of the Fall’, as their name suggests, the lyrics are very poetic.. πππ
I’m glad for your reactions to my comments, Ivan, for today, you have made my day, perhaps my week (it’s been tough at work…) with these reminders, one of which being, how wonderful it is to make special connections with souls through poetry. You are truly a very special soul. β€ Love your photograph capturing this too! π
And as in my poem, I had come to Cafe feeling tired, and reflecting on becoming older, and then the surroundings, the pleasant company, turned my thoughts into the moment I was enjoying, yes.. living in the present, and there’s no great hurry, today is just another bend in our long and winding road.. πππ
(I’m also going to replay the song and see what comes from it, filtered through my own soul and ink… β€ I was getting my cup of coffee originally but was rather entranced by the song and lyrics that I stopped what I was doing…)
Thank you Dwight, and yes you’ve basically got the feel of my poem… from my thoughts of pondering about growing old, to the pleasantries of enjoying the present moment ππ
Powerful words, Ivor. Powerful … nicely penned.
The sweet treat looks yummy. I’ll join you in your cafe
respite with a little tea and sweet treat too.
Be Safe …π· Izzy π
