Today here is another poem, that didn’t make the final list, and was ‘cut’ from my new Book “Tullawalla”… Maybe I thought the poem “Five Shades of Grey” was not substantial enough .. !!


Five Shades of Grey


Daylight turns into night

Ravens scatter in mid-flight

Dark clouds overlay

Five shades of grey

Thor’s hammer roars

His spark of fire, soars

Fiercely a flaming bolt strike’s

Piercing frightened psyches

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. Up in NSW they are severe storms and flooding… I’m afraid my poem is far too appropriate at the moment !!… we are a land of extremes Cheryl … this time last year it was drought and severe bushfires…. 😀

A fun version of AC/DC’s ‘Thunderstruck’ by the 2Cellos … another great Aussie band… I know when I wrote this one a few years age, that I was thrilled with the powerful imagery by using so few words….. and flooding here in Australia has inundated vast areas of NSW.. we are due for flooding in eastern Victoria over the next few days.. It’s been a soggy start to our Autumn… 😀🙄

Thank you for asking Carolyn … I’m going ok.. just a few technical problems…. my old computer has a touch of ‘slow-mo’ and my old mobile phone has blacked out on me…. all very frustrating … with my book launch week starting today… my brothers coming to fix my computer tomorrow .. and I had to purchase a new iPhone this afternoon …. anxiety level was high… hopefully I’ll be back on track with my book launch week tomorrow… a bad case of bad timing… 😀😎🙄
