Throwback Friday, Lost on the River

Since I am attending the Indie Author Book Fair as a “participant”, this Sunday, I thought it would be appropriate to present a poem from my Tullawalla Book, “Lost on the River”, page 123.

Lost on The River

Rain is pouring down

Like a river from the sky

Ground is becoming drowned

I am lost on the river

I cannot be found

A wall of water is pulling me out to sea

How will I ever reach high ground

Then a tree branch grabs me

A man’s voice yells, “Stick around”

In the blinding deluge, I cannot see

The man’s saving hand guides me

Drenched, shaking, I am dragged aground

I feel secure with his arms around me

“Don’t worry little fella, you’re safe and sound”

I pant, and lick his face from ear to ear

I was lost on the river, hell-bound

But now he has saved me

And beside him, this will be my town

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Wonderful poem! YAY for the man who rescued the little fellow and was rewarded with licks! And so so SO glad the little fellow was saved, and found his place! 🙂
I read this one aloud to Cooper! He enjoyed it! He said, “Scary! But with a pawsome happy tail-waggin’ ending!” 🙂
That is a heart-touching song/vid! We have all had times in our lives where we felt lost or like we were drowning….and thank goodness for those who came along and rescued us…sometimes with just a smile or some kind words. 🙂
YAY for the upcoming Book Fair! I know you will enjoy it! 🙂
