Oh Captain, My Captain (a Tanka, with apologies to Walt Whitman)
Who’s the ship’s captain
I cannot figure it out
The boat is listing
Loyalties are divided
Between who’s right, and who’s wrong

Your apology made me chuckle. Would be something to know his reaction, wouldn’t it? Creative response and beautiful song. 🎶

Great prompts and excellent poem, Ivor! Your poem is timely, powerful, important, something we are all wondering about. Uncertainty certainly can be frustrating.

Haha … I must be very wise, because yesterday afternoon I got home from the ‘cafe’, I did the dishes, brought the washing in and folded it, watered the garden, and then took Frankie for a walk … after all that, I sat down and wrote this poem … thank you Carolyn for your wonderful words 🤗😍🌏🐶🎶💕😎📘

Nice, Ivor. I hope our ship in the U.S. and elsewhere is uprighted in November with the right woman/captain.

Everyone can be right if the other side just enslaves themselves, and leaves the rest of us alone to be as FREE as we like. Vote Blue.
