An Inside Job

At Creative Geelong Makers Hub on Saturday, there was a rare opportunity when all the artists’ shops and studios were open on the same day.

Inside the MAY’D Shop.

The House, a community artistic centre and creative workshop.

The Hot House, the Hair Stylist’s Salon, and his Art Studio.

The Collectables Shop.

Vicky, who specializes in doggie portraits.

Joanne’s, Eco Artland, and Isobel and Sue’s Art Studios.

Wishart Creative and Untether Gallery

An Inside Job

I’m on the inside, looking out
North or south means nout
In here, there are no louts
Nor any sign of the drought

I’m doing a native walkabout
From shop to shop, lights on, or out
There is nothing to doubt or flout
Pins and needles, nails and clouts
Paint brushes and ceramic grout
Statues and clay waterspouts
Colourful cards and canvases throughout
A hairstylist, who paints during his timeout

I’m on a wondrous whirlabout
Trekking the Makers Hub route
Like a curious Boy Scout

MAY’D May Market

Creative Geelong had their annual “MAY’D May Market Festival” on the weekend. The weather was kind, and the event was a wonderful success for the stallholders and the enthusiastic crowd.

My poetry book stall.

Stallholders were also outside the Arcade, on Little Malop Street.

Live music and a coffee shop (next to my stall)

And various other forms of entertainment

Our Day at The Market

Our Creative Geelong Market Day was a very warm 33’C. However, we were comfortable enough, and with Frankie’s friendly demeanor and help we still managed to sell a fair few books.

Our bookstall, and Frankie overseeing the setting up …

The market’s Atrium area, and Jen Stevens with her creative pottery display

Adele and her fabulous hand-painted denim jackets …”Twilight” and “Ekphrastic” were inspired by her perusing my books at our previous market day.

A painting I purchased from our adjacent stall holder, Jen McElwee. And an embroidered card that she gifted me, with my poem “Dreams of the Heart” that she copied from my book “Tullawalla”

Imaginary Bookcases and Bootlaces

Over at Weekly Prompts, The Weekend Challenge is the word Absence. Please visit their fabulous site by clicking on >> HERE

Imaginary Bookcases and Bootlaces

In the absence
Of any commonsense
I’m here talking in mime
About my memories and rhymes
From behind my imaginary bookcase
And wearing a quirky poet’s face

This is my ordained place
Where I bravely embrace
The unpredictable pace
In this dysfunctional race

Then I cautiously retrace
My creations’ underground faces
From the days of waterlogged bootlaces

Ivor and Frankie’s Day at the Market

Featured Image Above; it was great to see that my poem “Invincible Pieces” was still on display on the glass door of The Third Space Gallery at the Creative Geelong Makers Hub ...

We started our day with an early morning walkie. A bright blue sky greeted us, and the Waning Gibbous was there, too!

After breakfast, we headed off to the Creative Geelong Market. We had our stall all set up by 11:00 a.m., and Frankie was comfy in his director’s chair.

Then I went around and checked out the other stall holder’s set-ups, while Frankie remained comfy in his director’s chair

We had a wonderful day, and some good chats with the customers, and my “Lucky-Dip” poems became quite popular again.

Christmas Market Weekend, “With a Little Help From My Friends”

Over at Weekly Prompts, the Monthly Colour Challenge is Red. Please visit their fabulous site by clicking on >> Here

The “Creative Geelong” Christmas Market was on Friday evening from 5.00 to 9.00 pm and Saturday from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm. Because of the stormy weather on Friday, the crowd was a bit light; however, on Saturday, the attendance was good.
Frankie and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. My ‘Lucky-Dip’ bucket of poems again proved to be a fabulous way of meeting and chatting with the customers. Meanwhile, Frankie also received plenty of friendly pats and some extra doggie treats.

The Bottom Right Image: me and my neighbouring stallholder, Jen Stevens (Pottery), a school friend of my stepson, Greg Steven, from “40” years ago …

Bottom Images: Santa’s little helpers delving into my “Lucky Dip” bucket … It’s nearly closing time, I’ve run out of Lucky Dip poems, and Frankie and I are waiting to pack up …
