Over at Weekly Prompts, it’s the last weekend of the month, One Day Prompt! … to visit their fabulous site please click on >> Here My poem is about “One Day” at the cafe with Frankie.
An advisory message to all of my Doggies Pals. Here’s my simple guide about, “How to get Yourself a Doggie Treat”, as illustrated in the images above.
* Firstly lead your companion into your favourite cafe * Take Him to a table where the waitresses can easily pat you * Make sure the table has a bench seat, so you can securely sit beside Him * Cuddle up beside Him and in front of his coffee * Stare at Him … you all know how to do that “sad dark eyed look” * Gently put your right paw on his arm that reaches out to pick up his coffee (Yep! that grabs his attention) * Now you have his attention, softly place your other paw on his forearm (Woof, woof, “he’s but putty in your paws”, and within a wiggle of your nose, the treat is yours) * Don’t snatch at his kind gesture, and slowly chomp away on the treat
We are both exhausted After Saturday’s strenuous market day And today we are calmly unwinding At the convivial Box Office Cafe I am drafting this poem And Frankie is quietly resting The Sunday sun is warmly shining But yesterday’s cold wind is still howling
We didn’t get to sleep Until after midnight And today, the relaxing ambience Of our favourite destination Is the place for some peaceful hibernation Away from our poetry workstation
I’m driving along Beach Parade Which overlooks the shimmering bay and flocks of seagulls are flying every-which-way
I’m on the way to my Market Day Where my poetry books will be on display Hopefully, I will sell a few more today
I had to leave Frankie at home for the day He’s a well-behaved doggie, and he should be okay With his water bowl and food tray
He has a book to gnaw on, by Hemingway that I gave to him for his birthday Also, he likes chasing the seagulls away But actually, he’ll sleep most of the day
Being a diabetic has its restrictions But the main rule is, ‘everything in moderation’
I love homemade cheesecake Especially the ones they make At the Moorabool Valley Chocolate Cafe Their irresistible strawberry cheesecakes Are on the better side of scrumptious
Frankie does not have any dietary problems So, he over-indulges on a strawberry And the crunchy biscuit base While I relax with my cafe coffee And write another pleasure-loving poem
