A sunset delight
A golden surprise today
A coffee house smile

Frankie has been with me for 9 months now, and he’ll be 6 in July and I’ll be 71 in July …

Frankie
Frankie is my doggie
Supposedly a champagne colour
But more like a dirty off-white
woolly picnic blanket
Friendly by nature
On hind legs he prances
Then promptly hit sits
Holds out his soft curly paw
He has the Cafe waitresses
Melt at his doggie command
Frankie knows how to score
Treats galore come his way
He is a happy winner everyday

Another poem from my Pacific Ocean cruise in April 2018. Actually this piece is not on my web/blog site, so I am thrilled to be posting this old poem here today

Reading On Deck And Ashore
I am in a poolside recliner
reading Brendan Ryan’s book
observing fellow passengers
strolling the pool deck
some bustle along
others meander by
gazing around and carefree
they all smile and say Hi
Penelope and her mother Dianne
stop for a chat
we agree, a nice place to sit
meet friends and relax
we are in port at Lifou Island
tenders take us ashore
I have Robert Okaji’s book in hand
to read while laying on pure white sand
the air is warm and humid
a pleasant sea-breeze
caresses my brow
another sunny day on the beach

New Windows
•
The day after
Flying around this old tree
Life is slowly coming back to me
•
I step away from my “Itmims” sleigh
To embrace the new world
And give celebrations another whirl
•
With a life full of joy
My journey continues
To dance through
Lockdown’s open windows

Introduction
This booklet is a collection of twenty collaborative articles. The photographs were taken by Derrick Knight, and the associated poems were written by Ivor Steven
The Photographer: Derrick Knight (New Forest, Southern England)
He is a septuagenarian who enjoys rambling physically and photographing what he sees, and rambling in his head as memories are triggered. He also rambles through a lifetime of his photographs.
The poet: Ivor Steven (Geelong, Australia)
He was formerly an Industrial Chemist, then a Plumber, now retired, and has been writing poetry for 20 years. He is on the committee of the Geelong Writers Inc.(Australia), a team member with the on-line magazine “Go Dog Go Cafe” (America), and also writer for “Coffee House Writers” magazine (America).
As far as I can ascertain(??) from my poetry files, “The Faeries of Fry’s Lane” is the first poem I wrote in association with a Photograph/s taken by Derrick Knight from his wonderful blog/website … I have now compiled a PDF Booklet of all our twenty (I think) collaorations … If are you interested in receiving a free PDF copy of “Perceptions”, please contact me via this email >> IR.Steven@bigpond.com

The Faeries of Fry’s Lane
Walking down Fry’s Lane
Sheltering from the misty rain
I did spy among the hedgerow berries
A Frolic of mystical faeries
Like iridescent glowing canaries
A fluttering of night-time luminaries
Trying not to disturb their magical home
I quietly asked them, “Are you all alone”
The faeries laughed and danced
They replied, “Your vision is by perchance
and your dreams may turn to stone
if you wish for a golden throne”
Suddenly the glittering sands of time
Illuminating the faeries wings of rhyme
Begun jumping off the falling star
And the faeries quickly flew back to their green Avatar

A Courtyard Song
The spring morn is crisp
Sun-rays cling onto my chest
Porridge and lemon-ginger tea
Refresh my sleepy soul
Courtyard flowers arouse my eyes
Music vibrates the air
With a piano tune from Ludovico Einaudi
And Frankie quietly watches on
I write a comment for Derrick
His home in England needs a plumber
Then I send a song to Susi in America
To compliment her lovely ‘Fall’ poem
Carolyn’s words enrich my heart
But she will need her tissues
When she plays the video/music song
Only 8.00 am, and my message box is full
And now, the old poet’s day begins
