Celtica, a high-octane modern Irish Dance show, will tour the stages across Australia in 2024. It stars an elite troupe of dancers, including stars of Lord of the Dance and Celtic Illusion, and on Tuesday evening they were in Geelong. My friend, Barbara, and I were fortunate enough to be part of a ‘packed house’.
The ‘packed house’ theatre. Then Barbara and I with the singer and the lead dancers after the show.
We are both exhausted After Saturday’s strenuous market day And today we are calmly unwinding At the convivial Box Office Cafe I am drafting this poem And Frankie is quietly resting The Sunday sun is warmly shining But yesterday’s cold wind is still howling
We didn’t get to sleep Until after midnight And today, the relaxing ambience Of our favourite destination Is the place for some peaceful hibernation Away from our poetry workstation
The weather was not kind For our Makers Market Day The afternoon was wet with an icy wind Which naturally kept the crowd away
I did not sell any books But again, my poem lucky Dip pot It was an intriguing and delightful success As all the envelopes contained my web address And I had some happy customers Who said they followed my website Their kind words have made my night
“Be a mirror, absorb everything around you, and still remain the same.” – Leonardo da Vinci
An Unstable Fable
At times, imperceptibly and involuntarily I appear to be vulnerable and disabled
I have lost my agility and movability My inabilities could have been a liability But I am capable and dependable And over time, I have developed adaptability
After a memorable and mischievous Saturday And a meaningful poetry meeting on Sunday I’m suffering Mondayitis I am feeling muddled and misplaced today
Here, at the Box Office Cafe Frankie and I are debriefing ourselves In preparation for ‘our’ book launch on Wednesday Yes! Frankie will be there, centre stage Wearing his winter jacket and ready to recite his poem From ‘my’ book, “Until Eyes Hear Sound”
I ordered my Copies of “Cadence” on Sunday, and they are today! (Thursday) … the Emu flew faster than Jet Plane … Me and Frankie have had a quick browse, and the anthology of “Life’s Poetic Rhythms” looks sensational.
Late yesterday afternoon I went down to the city waterfront to capture the full moon rising over the bay. Then I attended the Creative Geelong Winter Solstice event and the City’s Solstice Festival … No poem, but I took lots of Photos …
Over at Weekly Prompts, the Weekend Challenge is: Sleep … please visit their fabulous website by clicking on >> Here. I’ve been busy the last several days, an open mic’ night, a big fun afternoon at the Box Office Cafe (Poem below), Creative Geelong Market Day, and tomorrow morning it’s my Dome Poetry Group’s monthly meeting … And tonight, I am very “Sleepy”
Together in the Box Office Cafe
As is Frankie’s way In his cute and friendly manner He invited three young ladies To join us at our table And as in Tullawalla’s, ‘a meeting place’ We quickly became cheekily friendly and chatty They were inquisitive about what I was writing, and my books, ‘Perceptions’ and ‘Until Eyes Hear Sound’
The three “train-driver” ladies jokingly agreed “Youth is wasted on the young” Then, Ivor, Frankie, Carla, Mandy, and Emily Shared pup-cups, cappuccino, and latte Along with some neuro-cool glasses Of vodka, prosecco, and martini
Thanks to the ladies, we had a fun afternoon Frankie lapped up all their extra cuddles And Carla kindly purchased Signed copies of, ‘Tullawalla’ and ‘Perceptions’
A poem I wrote in April 2021, about waiting for the Publisher to do the edit corrections and have my “new” book (Tullawalla) printed and look the way I wanted it to be!
Patiently, I Am Waiting
Patience drifts around the clock Patience floats in dry-dock Patience hovers in transit Patience belies my spirit
Patiently I walk Patiently I talk Patiently I listen Patiently I have forgiven
Patience is the essence Patience is my sentence Patience is my burden Patience is my warden
Patiently I wait Patiently I update Patiently I sleep And alone I weep
Patiently I Compromise Patiently I will arise Patiently I reactivate Patiently I will gravitate Patience commands my time Patience is my crime
