What would you change about modern society? – My Answer

Go back to being a society

Without materialism

Love! One Word, One World, One Day

We are surrounded
By Nature’s wondrous colour
But we fail to see
The sound of her pain

Above our shadows
And beyond our dreams
Lives hope and love

Shall we never stop dreaming
About our world’s wilderness of words
Whether we are reading or writing

Throwback Friday, Knots On Blue Paper Lines

This week’s Throwback Friday poem has been hidden away for five years and is not in any of my published books. I originally wrote the piece in August 2019 and “as is my way” I have revised the poem for today’s article.

Knots On Blue Paper Lines

Eyelids are heavy and tired
Overcome by the dazzle of razzle
My palms are open but empty
Anxiously yearning to turn another page

This mind of mine feels worn and torn
Time is constantly tick-tocking away
Chiming between today and tomorrow
While the poet’s pen is scrawling
Knots on blue paper lines
Hanging them out, to dry and die

My arms are quietly fluttering
Searching for yesterday’s wings
As I meander through my journey
Pondering how much reality stings

I think the lyrics of the ‘Airbourne Toxic Event’s’, song below, are profoundly outstanding and well worth reading as you listen to the tune.”

Discombobulated and Disorganised

Discombobulated and Disorganised

After a memorable and mischievous Saturday
And a meaningful poetry meeting on Sunday
I’m suffering Mondayitis
I am feeling muddled and misplaced today

Here, at the Box Office Cafe
Frankie and I are debriefing ourselves
In preparation for ‘our’ book launch on Wednesday
Yes! Frankie will be there, centre stage
Wearing his winter jacket and ready to recite his poem
From ‘my’ book, “Until Eyes Hear Sound”

Frankie’s poem is, “Holes in Doors”
Read his words, > Holes In Doors  – Ivor.Plumber/Poet (ivorplumberpoet.press)

One Day Older, Another Page Wiser

One Day Older, Another Page Wiser

Dark clouds go to and froe
Casting shadowy undertows
Our flamboyant Sun knows
How to manage her daily cargo

Wisdom doesn’t grow on trees
Wisdom is like a coral sea
An incrementally maturing apogee

Life is just a dream
That we don’t understand
The meaning of
Until we ‘go to sleep’

Arriving and Leaving, Visiting Her (page 102)

arriving
via the cemetery gate
holding her flowers
hands quivering
heart quickens
bowing silently
reminiscing
smiling
wondering why
closing time
and visiting time
co-exist in life

leaving
via the cemetery path
renewing goodbyes
crying silently
breathing slowly
smiling
wondering why
closing time
and visiting time
co-exist in life
