Lamenting Joy – A Poem

I’ve read this compassionate poem several times already, “I Do Run’s” words have touched me deeply. Please read, if you are so inclined,….. There is no instant solution, but together with trillions of humane hearts there shall always be hope……..

iidorun's avatarI Do Run

Don’t you dare turn those unicorn eyes toward me
And keep your sparkly sparkles to yourself
That field was truly not meant for running or singing or dancing or jumping for joy.

Just stop with the rainbows and the technicolor sunsets
No need for close ups of baby chubby thighs
Or even your thighs sunning on white sand beaches.

Enough of the Sunday mornings watching your lover breathe
And definitely no more spontaneous water fights with the kids
Even those first moments that bring tears of joy are not the moments for me

No, not for me, wondering, how you can enjoy when
…..Children are kept in cages, sold to the highest bidder
…..Women are forced into dangerous back alleys, not owning their bodies
…..Veterans sleep on cardboard boxes, crazy instead of courageous
…..People still being judged by the back of their hand or the hand they’re holding

Unicorns and…

I Climb

I Climb

Step by step I climb

Steadily walking my path

Time is flying fast

“If You Wait”

To treasure gold is fun
Brother, drop your bag at once
From the air to the people
A mass to take you on
From the clock to the past
A future that I own
And to find just one other
Seems to be the goal of everyone
From the search to the hurt
I believed I could take you on
We would drink, we would dance
And you would watch me whenever you wantAnd can you give me, everything
Everything, everything
Cos I can’t give you anything
And if you wait, if you wait
I will trust in time that we will meet again
If you wait

If letters spell out words, son
You chose to put them in order, didn’t you
From the meaning, the moment you tried to take me on
From the air to the room A bed that I own

And can you give me everything,
Everything, everything
Cos I can’t give you anything
And if you wait, if you wait I will trust in time that we will meet again
If you wait
I will trust in time that we will meet again

Yes I’ll Be There

Two weeks ago, on Friday 15th I was cleaning out my mailbox, throwing out all those annoying advertising pamphlets, when I happen to notice a little flyer that caught my attention. Yeah ! a book fair to held the next day in the West Geelong Town Hall. I missed  last year’s event, and finding the advertisement was a pleasant surprise…. Yes I did go……….Yes I did buy a few books…. Yes the advertising did work… The Weekly Photo Prompt this week is: Advertising

Below: Some of the Poetry books I did discover and subsequently purchased, and I’m sure they’ll make for interesting reading on my flight over to New York…..

My Bamboo Kite

Fly free, fly high

My bamboo kite

Bright orange and green

A colourful gliding sight

Your counter-weight tail fluttering

Like a flowing rainbow in the sky

Flying freer, flying higher

Your ground chains are broken

And the strong anchoring rope

Has shrank to a golden thread

Go away, and climb

Above the silver clouds

Eventually your thread will fray

Leaving a slither of mellow twine

Not strong enough

To stop you breaking free

Never long enough

To stop you soaring higher

Dusty Passport

Here I was resting, home again from hospital

A mystery illness, had laid me up

I was rekindling thoughts of travelling to America

An adventure I’d always promised myself

Night is not always dark, you know

Firstly I had to find my passport

Yes, I’d hidden it somewhere safe

After turning the bedroom inside out

Then throwing the lounge-room upside down

The lost document was on a garage shelf

Looking dusty, but still only five years old

Jumping for joy, you’d think I’d found gold

Hardly ever been stamped, a Chinese one, that’s all

Many years to pass, until my last call

I clasped that passport firmly in my hand

And I said, “It’s time”, before my clock runs out of sand

Weekly challenge

Weekly Photo Prompt: Featured Image.

Hi dear Helene, I’ve yet to participate in one of your weekly photo prompts, and I found your photo fascinating, and my I wrote this poem for your prompt.

My Neighbour Wasn’t Mowing His Lawn

I saw a sign, painted by His hand

The words, I did not understand

I thought why ? another old brick wall

Ascending the crooked ladder, too afraid to fall

There I stood alone, and stared

Above the galaxy’s glare

My retina’s were burning

Last night’s moon had p

My neighbour wasn’t mowing his lawn

I then saw the universe

Oblivion, in a blade of grass

Cracks Fading Into Dust

I’d like to thank Gina, of Singledust, for reminding me of an old poem of mine. Her glorious poem, “dying dreams” inspired me to write an answer to my poem “A Crack In The Wall”.

Cracks Fading Into Dust

Long ago, I lay bruised, on a pebble beach

The jagged rocks, had cut me deeply

I remained, bleeding and afraid

Beached, unable to row with my torn pieces

The cracks sharp edges, are now blunt

Ancient dark chasms, softened by time

And filled with yesteryear’s tears

Light ascends from the opaque holes

And glowing lustre, hovers over old fears

I see clear visions beyond the front door

And distant dreams, becoming realities

I’m done, hurdling fences and stone walls

The lifelong barriers are turning into dust

And her lost love, will be my last supper

Leonardo’s Bride – Lyrics. Even when I’m Sleeping

Don’t be confused by my apparent lack of ceremony,
My mind is clear
I may be low or miles high off in the distance,
I want you near
I love you… even when I’m sleeping
When I close my eyes
You’re everywhere
And if they take me flying on the magic carpet
See me wave
If our communication fails I’ll reconnect it
I want to rave
I love you… even when I’m sleeping
When I close my eyes
You’re everywhere
No matter where the road is leading us remember
Don’t be afraid
We have a continent that sometimes comes between us
That’s ok
I love you… even when I’m sleeping
When I close my eyes
You’re everywhere

A Green Two Days

Hello dear readers, a happy St Patrick’s to you all. Last night I was fortunate enough to be able to go the Geelong Irish Society’s, St Patrick’s Day Cocktail Party. The evening was a glorious celebration, with lots of scrumptious food, stirring Irish music from the band, “Old Melbourne Rd”, and plenty of Irish fluids to encourage the participants to have a happy time. I’ve attached some photos and a videos from last night, and a photo from today’s St Patrick’s fundraising Fete at our local St Patrick’s school.

Below.: The band playing their start song

Below: Yes !! I’m on the dance……. instead of the hospital bed…….

Below: The real Irish Dancing Girls…….

Cheers My Friends
