Throwback Friday, An Empty Shell

** Please note: The featured image above was copied, with permission from Niki Flow’s; >> blog site.  https://under1000skies.org/

Today’s Throwback poem is from July 2019, six months after my third stroke, and stroke fatigue was still occurring regularly. Today, I’m feeling quite fatigued, but it has more to do with my hectic schedule lately …

An Empty Shell

I’m a broken stick
Hit by a tonne of bricks
I’ve stroke fatigue
Tiredness out of my league
The psyche says go
My body says no
Yesterday everything was fine
Today nothing is mine
Only rest and sleep
Not even a sneaky peep
They say, what’s wrong
I say, who’s playing my song
They say, you look ok
I say, I cannot stay
Read us your poem
No! I want to go home
Don’t spoil the show
I’m an empty shell, they do not know

Time is Blind (a Senryu)

The Featured Image Above was taken by Jackie Knight, Derrick’s wife, and I have cropped it to fit the ‘Feature Image size’.

Over at Weekly Weekly Prompts, the Wednesday Challenge is the word: Eerie … You may visit their fabulous site by clicking on >> Here.

“Time is eerie, time is blind, and time takes no commands.”

Time is Blind (a Senryu)

Atop a Town Square bollard
Time sees no graveyard

Celtica, Irish Dance Show

Celtica, a high-octane modern Irish Dance show, will tour the stages across Australia in 2024. It stars an elite troupe of dancers, including stars of Lord of the Dance and Celtic Illusion, and on Tuesday evening they were in Geelong. My friend, Barbara, and I were fortunate enough to be part of a ‘packed house’.

The ‘packed house’ theatre. Then Barbara and I with the singer and the lead dancers after the show.

And another music/video for something different …

Serene Memories

Serene Memories

I live in a time zone
Where a peaceful river flows
Through the heart of my home

Down the road, toward the South
The Ocean’s shimmering memories
Convey a tranquil taste
Of sea mist to my mouth

And not far away, toward the North
The mountain’s eucalyptus fragrance
Serenely follows me back and forth

Both share nature’s world

A Bridge Over Untroubled Waters

Please Note: Derrick Knight took all the attached photos, and he kindly allowed me to reproduce them here on my poetry site.

A Bridge Over Untroubled Waters

The rhythmical waters of time
Flowed rapidly under our bridge
As my unruffled pebbles of rhyme
Cascaded down from a faraway ridge

After that, every little ripple on the stream
Reflected untroubled moments in my dreams

Besotted

Featured Image Above: Frankie attentively watches me roll up Gina’s air-bed mattress.

Frankie was with Gina yesterday, and “one” disconsolated Frankie this morning.

Over at Weekly Prompts, it’s the last weekend of the month and time for their “One Day” Prompt … please visit their fabulous site by clicking on >> Here

Besotted

Our blessed guest
From the Northwest
Has left our nest

She expressed
Without protest
That we were the best

Although I did suggest
(as you all would have guessed)
That Frankie was obsessed
And besotted by our special guest

Day 4, Gina Comes to Geelong

After our early morning walkies, Frankie, Gina, and I went to the Box Office Cafe for a scrumptious breakfast.

My Bowl of Porridge, Fruit, and nuts … Frankie enjoyed his toast and coffee

Frankie and his friend Bella, eyeing off Gina’s scrambled eggs.

Then we drove to the nearby Geelong Waterfront for another enjoyable walkie …

1.00 pm was approaching and it was time to take Gina to the train station and say a fond goodbye to our gracious and generous guest … until the next time “Gina Comes to Geelong”

Day 3, Gina Comes to Geelong

After enjoying our morning walkies, Gina and I (without Frankie) travelled to Drysdale, where we enjoyed an excellent luncheon/dining experience on board The Q Train, a historic train that travels between Drysdale and Queenscliff.

Thursday evening we attended the Geelong Library’s special presentation of the famous Australian author, “Tim Winton, in conversation with Jock Serong, as they discussed Tim Winton’s new novel, JUICE. [This event was the main reason why Gina had come to Geelong]

Day 2, Gina Comes to Geelong

Early morning walkies, followed by a visit to the historic Fyansford Paper Mills Precinct and a coffee break, then we drove down to Bancoora Beach to enjoy a walk in the warm sun, on the cool golden sand

We had lunch at the Moorabool Valley Chocolate Cafe and then we decided to travel over to the You Yangs National Park

By now it was late afternoon and it was time to go home and get ready for Dinner at the ‘Industrie’ Restaraunt with the Geelong Writers members

There will be more photos Tomorrow (Thursday) “Gina Comes to Geelong”
