One Day Older, Another Page Wiser

Today’s poem is one of those pieces made up of comments that I posted on some of my fellow WordPress writers’ articles during the week. In stanza order, they are

One Day Older, Another Page Wiser

Dark clouds go to and froe
Casting shadowy undertows
Our flamboyant Sun knows
How to manage her daily cargo

Wisdom doesn’t grow on trees
Wisdom is like a coral sea
An incrementally maturing apogee

Life is just a dream
That we don’t understand
The meaning of
Until we ‘go to sleep’

A Day of Celebrations

My Birthday today (73rd) was a day of celebrations.
* On our morning walkies, we were gifted a beautiful rainbow
* In the afternoon I had the pleasure of attending my Football Club’s (Bell Park) 40th anniversary/reunion of the club’s 1st Senior Premiership in 1984
* Being a close-knit club, everyone knew it was my birthday, so the reunion celebrations were double the fun for me.
* It was well after sunset when I finally arrived back home, and Frankie was happy to receive his dinner, albeit a few hours later than normal …

A morning rainbow for my Birthday (73) … Frankie giving me the stare because he has to stay home.

Me with Jimmy, my Under 18’s coach (1969) and the club President in 1984 when we won our First Senior Premiership. (He’ll be 90 in December)

The 1984 Committee (I was the Social Coordinator), and the 1984 Team Photos

This year’s coach addressed the reunion crowd, and me with some lifelong club friends

Arriving and Leaving, Visiting Her (page 102)

arriving
via the cemetery gate
holding her flowers
hands quivering
heart quickens
bowing silently
reminiscing
smiling
wondering why
closing time
and visiting time
co-exist in life

leaving
via the cemetery path
renewing goodbyes
crying silently
breathing slowly
smiling
wondering why
closing time
and visiting time
co-exist in life

Out of the Blue!

The Authors’ Breakfast was a great success this morning. We had a room to ourselves at Novotel Geelong and a couple of hours to meet new people, mingle, and talk about all things books.

Out of the Blue!

This morning I attended
An authors’ breakfast
Then, out left field
You were there!
Spying on me!
Peeping through the balcony window

After the event
I was waiting at the bus stop
Then, out of nowhere
You were there!
Spying on me!
Peeping out of the leafy trees

When I returned home
I took Frankie for a walk
Then, out of the blue
You were there!
Spying on me!
Peeping from behind the whispy clouds

Twilight Time

Over at Weekly Prompts, the Weekend Challenge is the word: Adapt. To visit their fabulous site, please click on >> Here. … below, my poem contains the word “Adaptable” …

Twilight Time

Photogenically
As the setting sun
Folded into the horizon
The half-moon shimmered
Like a white wave
Upon a sapphire ocean

And simultaneously
Nature’s adaptable birds
Painted winged silhouettes
On the chromatic
Twilight sky
