Grey Clouds Have Rainbows

Grey Clouds Have Rainbows

The night is not always dark

You know

The moon has a bright side

The other side hides

in the Sun’s shadow

An icy pond’s reflection

Has the wrong image

Of whom was right

And grey clouds have rainbows

White Stone (a Senryu)

Timeless white headstones

Guarding the ground of old souls

Loved ones’ final home

“Headstones”, Lyrics, Lake Of Tears

Past the forest of the flies of fire
Beyond the waters of shimmering tears
By a fire they stand
And they whisper my name

Now I seek upon the night
Small fragments of moonlight

Up the hill the headstones lie
Up the hill the reapers watching eye
Up the hill the headstones lie
Headstones…

In the circle of stones dressed in ivy
By the garden of the serene flowers
And the spirits are there
Whispering my name

Now I seek upon the night
Small fragments of moonlight

Up the hill the headstones lie
Up the hill the reapers watching eye
Up the hill the headstones lie
Headstones…

Throwback Friday, Moon Blossom

A “Moon” poem that I originally wrote in June 2019.

Moon Blossom

The old moon knows

After a bitterly cold winter

There’s never a false spring

And Eve’s apple tree always blossoms

Then the full moon shyly shines

Casting moon-shadows upon sacred ground

And asks about the planet’s fading designs

“Where have all the ancient spirits gone”

However, the new moon remains alluring

And his moonbeams spoon our imagination

Yellow ripples shimmering across blue lagoons

Casting moon-shadows over lovers’ bedrooms

And love eventually conquers us all

When moon blossom ringlets gently fall

Worldly Friends (a Tanka)

Hello friends and followers, today I’m traveling to the other side of the State for my uncle’s funeral on Thursday (he would’ve been 100 years old on the 29th of February, (yes, he was a Leapyear Baby!) and I won’t be back until Friday … my blogging will be minimal. Still, I have scheduled some poems while away.

Worldly Friends (a Tanka)

Frankie watches out

Matilda then flies across

The road to say Hi

Animals, no matter their

Breed, are nature’s worldwide friends

Flying By (a Haiku)

Flying By (a Haiku)

Me and my shadow

Dodging morning dragonflies

And white butterflies

Flying High in the Full Moon Sky

Matilda shows me how to push start the flight …

Matilda takes me through the process of gliding into the sky … he made it look easy!!

“Our” full moon photos from tonight, 8.30 pm (just after sunset), 9.30 pm, 10.30 pm, and midnight.

Over at Weekly Prompts, the Weekend Challenge is: Expect … you may visit their wonderful site by clicking on >> Here.
In my poem below, Matilda and I are “expecting” to see the full moon tonight.

Flying High in the Full Moon Sky

During our walkies, this morning
I enjoyed a friendly chat
With Matilda the Magpie

“Good morning, Matilda
as you know, later today
the full moon is going to be on show
and I was wondering
could I come and fly with you?
for a clear aerial view”

“You are more than welcome Ivor
however, when was the last time you went flying?”

“Five years ago, my friend
when I flew to Philadelphia”

“Oh, you will be a bit rusty
and now you are a 72-year-old
so best we have a practice run”

“Good idea, Matilda
I suppose it is like riding a bike
my wings will automatically remember
how to give me a push start
and then my gliding skills will return”

I am pleased to say
The training session went well
Matilda and I
Will be flying high
Side by side
In tonight’s full moon sky

Beyond a World of Wires

Beyond a World of Wires

I am a bird

Perched atop a post

I am a bird on a wire

I am about to jump

A leap of faith

Toward the light

Through the wires

Across the oceans

Over the horizon

Into the universe

Beyond eternity

I am a bird

A bird on a wire

Perched on her bier

Throwback Friday, Did You Hear the Moon Call?

I have written and posted a number of “moon” poems lately, and there will be a full moon tomorrow night. So, my Throwback Friday Poem is another Moon Poem, “Did You Hear the Moon Call?, from September 2021

Did You Hear the Moon Call?

Time is an eternal sundial

The sun rises, and the sun sets

Tides roll in, tides go out

The rivers ebb and flow

And the gray clouds of life

Continue to fly on by

Curtains open, and curtains fall

The audience wants more

Feel the crowd roar

Last night, did you hear the moon call?

Evening Lights

Over at Weekly Prompts, the Wednesday Challenge is the word: Inspiration. You may visit their wonderful site by clicking on >> Here.
My poem below was “Inspired” by my evening photos of Nature’s Lights …

Evening Lights

My welcome light is on and shining

The twilight moon is iconically glowing

And the setting sun has thrown

A laser light across the horizon

The evening show has begun

There is enough room for everyone

Join me and Doctor Who’s Tardis crew

Enjoy a timeless front-row view

For a magical evening of fun

And savor another of nature’s classic re-runs
