Spoil Me, (With Apologies To David Redpath)

Sorry David, but here I am again

At West Geelong’s, Box Office Cafe

Spoiling myself, for Saturday lunch

Geelong’s own version, of ‘Go Dog Go Cafe’

Where owners and their furry pals all meet

Chatting and barking, one social togetherness

And yes, I get to give the doggies, pats and hugs

There’s Bronson, the well behaved little Pug

Duke, a very young Dalmatian, he’s going to be a big boy

And another Duke, a striking auburn Labrador

Sorry David, I’m going to describe my feast now

Firstly, a real Aussie cappuccino coffee

Followed by Bao Buns, with slow cooked pork

A sweet and sour glaze, and fresh herbs

With cucumber, pickled carrot, fried shallots

Complimented by a delicate Gochujang mayonnaise

Then of course, I had to have a delicious cake

David, I couldn’t resist, a Berry Velvet teacake

Leaving me no option, but to wash it all down

With one of those politically incorrect, Blackman’s lagers

Cheers everyone, I’ll be on holiday, in Ballarat this week

Red Rose Sunset

Another sunrise

And my red rose has wilted

I knew she could not stay

Although I sacredly

Stood her in holy water

Nurturing her fading life

As I watched her weep

Petals, one by one

Weaken and fall

Anointing her finality

Leaving a barren stem

Sturdy and alone

Reciting eulogies

About a lost Autumn flower

And that last, red rose sunset

My Going Away Song Choice

Of course, I’ll pick a good Australian band, here I’ve chosen, ‘Augie March’, a lot of you might not have heard of them , from my state Victoria, and a country town called Shepparton. I love this song of theirs, ‘One Crowded Hour’, something like how I’m feeling as I’m heading in the one hour bus trip, to Melbourne airport, getting closer to take off… Yeah….

My Good Friday

This lazy day was good to me

After earlier, I wondered

If I’m physically unwinding

Or am I mentally gearing up

I thought, all in good time

My body and mind

Would find their, common landing ground

My morning walk, along the Ted Wilson Trail, felt good

Not too far, but long enough

To know I’d achieved a good number of steps

Then I gave Yorkie two good pedals

Along with two good sessions of balance exercises

Late afternoon, and my travel case’s in good order

Nearly packed, clothes neat and looking good

Not too many sets, but just enough

To feel warm and cool, attired in style

The relaxing day was good for me

And even good, for a piece of poetry
