Concrete Void

I’m becoming impatient,

Here waiting,

Waiting for a concrete lid.

Too many stop signs,

And lifetime bans.

I’m a good man,

So I’ve been told.

But there’s a chasm,

And the concrete’s,

Yet to fill the void.

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. I loved that the poem is obscure enough for others to put their own meaning into it. I laughed when you actually let Derrick know what it was actually about.

Lol. I’m intrigued that you’re a plumber and a poet. That isn’t “draining” is it?😉

On a happy note, I’d like to congratulate you for winning the Jason mask sculpture! My email is yayrperez@gmail.com. You can either email me there with your email address or post it as a reply to my comment. It’s up to you. Carrie, the artist, will then contact you regarding shipping the art to you. Congrats Ivor, on the behalf of Slasher Monster Magazine!!

    1. Thankyou for your intriguing comment, haha, I was angry at the time of writing, hehehe, and that’s exactly how I meant the poem to be, open for interpretation. I’m not sure how I’ve won this prize from your Magazine, but I’m very thrilled and appreciative, thankyou, and I shall forward ny email via yours, and a little story about Ivor the Plumber/Poet

      1. Lol. Well, Ivors, my blogs Poet Rummager and Slasher Monster Magazine host a giveaway on Fridays, and you visited one of them, left a micro-story about a “mask,” and got entered into the drawing. Congrats!! I shall check my email in a bit. Thanks!
