The end of December, and January is near.
The bell tolls louder, and how perennially I jeer.
Those same old questions, and no answers, every year.
Annually dismayed, as new dawns disappear.
Let the past be gone, now that today’s here.
Let the future come, as I face tomorrows haunting fears.
Last years sins have been, and totally bygone.
The new year’s about to begin, could be right or wrong.
Next year’s eeriely hovering, and I anxiously worry far too long.
Knowingly waiting, for my angels mourning song.
Let the past be gone, vowed todays final word.
Let the future come, but tomorrow’s dying, I heard.

Thanks Mel, 7.30pm here, just home from a lovely day out, a game of Golf in the morning, a scrumptious barbecue in the afternoon, plenty to eat and drink, lovely company, and now safely back home, hope you have a fabulous New Year xx

I am struggling to find the right words for this, Ivor. It’s not melancholic but it is, kind of. It’s not a lament, yet it is(ish). There’s a chant-like feel about your words, an affirmation of oneself, one’s weaknesses, one’s strengths. You are such a soulful person, Ivor. I am glad we found each other and each other’s words this year. I hope we can continue to stumble and stride, skip and dance and fall throughout next year as we journey our paths.
Happy New Year, my dear friend.

You’ve tapped a deep vein here. Ivor. It’s not often heard in the chorus of holiday cheer, yet shuffles along just beneath the surface. Insightful! Wishing you the best in the coming year!

I agree with Jan, almost a version of Auld Lang Syne and for me it’s always tinged with a tear.

Isn’t this the perfect time for reflection, letting go, grabbing hope, feeling sorrow and feeling anticipation. We’ll go into this year the same way my friend.

I want to echo everything Kelvin had said.
This poem is very human and without the glitz and rose tinted glasses we’re supposed to approach new year with. Great poem, Ivor. I hope you’re doing well. π

It never appears how we think it should always a different color
Or the shape was bigger the…..
Many years have passed and still
We haven’t settled on a conclusion
But we still are at it till it fits comfortable not so tight
I like to think that this is
How we see life a comfort
Side of numb. You take it
Any way you can get it
As Sheldon Usual

Thank you Sheldon, Happy New Year, I’m already half way through the first day of 2018, woke up feeling like a bulldozer had run over me, squashing the life out of me, and aching all over, but I suppose they’ll be betterer days during the year. I’ll just take it anyway I can get It….. Cheers Ivor….
