If you could foresee one accomplishment in your future, what would you like it to be?
Her Secret Key.
Do I stay, end up in a geriatric room
or do I fly away to the moon
Live in a cottage by the sea
surrounded by mountains and palm trees
I’ve hundreds of dreams to do
I could take a lady friend too
Marry and honeymoon at Niagara Falls
travel to China and walk the wall
See the sights at our National Park, Kakadu
take a spiritual tour of Kathmandu
Cruise the beautiful European rivers
or just globe-trot anywhere I please
What does the future hold for me
I’d like to keep healthy and carefree
Writing poetry like the muse Melpomene
reciting to the world, about her secret key
Ivor Steven (c) 2018
I’d fly away to live between the stars. 🙂

oh how beautiful Ivor and yet a little sad? A secret key that connects is like a guarantee of hope or a piece of satisfaction of longing? A connection that gives exchange and love, selflessly without obligations. Whereby the obligation is also the obligatory, what keeps us and security and what takes us the loneliness. There is so much to experience, so much to do, and so little time. It is understandable that the artist lets his thoughts and imagination travel.

Your interpretation of my words is quite accurate, and the one thing I want to accomplish is to be happy and have some company, I’m not a good loner, hence I’ll have find “Her Secret Key”, thank you for your wonderful comment Anie,

Oh I thought you found it already and it is just one more step from poetry to face her eye to eye…. so I cross fingers…it is springtime you have to find it now!

Life certainly hasn’t stolen the romance from your heart, Ivor. Reading your poem made me feel young, just for a moment. Just for a moment I believed in those childhood dreams of a perfect future.

I’m still a romantic soul, and of course a dreamer, and aren’t we all looking for a secret key to unlock our hearts, our dreams, our love, and find that happy ever after ….

My happy ever after revolves around my children, my friends and a single life. Maybe there was only room for one true love in my life (he was married. I kissed him goodbye and walked away 41 years ago. when I was 22, on the day he asked me to run away with him), or maybe I was born to be a hermit… I miss the romance, but I have my memories, and it’s all I want.
I hope you find your happy ending. You’re a lovely man who deserves more time in the sunshine of love xx

Thank you ❤️ Jane, you’ve a gorgeous soul, and as I’ve said before you’re a fantastic mum, and may your happiness forever be so. 😊 😊 ❤️ 💕

Don’t tell my son I’m a fantastic mum. The last time someone told him that, he showed up at my place in the middle of the night, smashed a few things, called me horrible names, just managed to stop himself from smashing a dining chair over my head, and had to be taken away by the police.
That was on my daughter’s wedding night. It’s not all beer and skittles, as we say over here. 😉

Ooo! I like this! But I don’t know who Melpomene is and what her secret key is about. Research!!!

Oh yes, Melpomene (/mɛlˈpɒmᵻniː/; Greek: Μελπομένη; “to sing” or “the one that is melodious”), initially the Muse of Chorus, she then became the Muse of Tragedy, for which she is best known now.
And as for her secret key, it’s in my imagination as my key to future love and happiness, the key could belong to Melpomene or my Carole, ??

That’s a great opening question: shall I stay for what seems inevitable or shall I go?

I love your poetry and I enjoy the challenge of working out the hidden meanings.
I dream as in sleep-time dreams, but I’m not much of a day-dreamer. I think I accept it as it is and then I become deliriously happy when as it is turns out to be a wonderful surprise! Gosh, does that make sense? 🙂

😊 😊 Happily it all makes sense to me, and it pleases me greatly that you enjoy my poems. 😊 💛
