I’m of mixed origin
Am I a hybrid
An off-spring of my parents
Dad was a red-head with freckles
From Tasmania, a convicts great-grandson
Mum had dark hair and olive skin
A German and Scottish background
She was born in Penang Malaysia
They were worlds apart
The great war shaped their paths
Time and peace brought them together
I’m their hybrid, freckles and dark hair

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

The emblem of Yorkshire is the white rose, the emblem of Lancashire is the red rose. I’m the offspring of each so that makes me a hybrid rose!
You linked to the home page where pingbacks won’t show up, You’re not the first and I can see why the confusion, I’ll change the wording. Lots of your friends wrote the first thing I thought: We’re all hybrids. Going back further through all our ancestors, we’re tapestries. I enjoyed this poem and your tbt pic. =) ♥.

There are still too many people who think they have the right to expect everyone else to drop dead for them. Sadly. 🙂

It’s weirdly delusional to think you deserve special treatment because you have almost no protection against the Sun. I suppose it’s a kind of handicap…?

That’s the trouble, I’ve no idea what they are thinking of when they think of themselves as being a superior species

It’s tribalism. Tribalism is ok for species that is small in number living on the edge of starvation. The first thing most animals do when they enter a new territory is mark it. I use to watch my cat prowl her territory before she settled down for the night.
Tribalism has no survival value for a species that dominates this planet and has the technology to it needs colonize and explore other world’s. Tribalism is the appendix of human instincts.

Interesting, I love your views on our human instincts Robert. So most of our fuck-wit leaders are verging on tribaliism, I probably over-generalise, but that’s me.

I don’t know. The United States is locking children up in concentration camps. It’s insane and inexcusable, regardless
of what it is.

You are not alone my friend. My Dad was a pale English origin with thick hair that didn’t last and my mom was a red haired, freckle faced Scottish lass. My brother got her red hair and freckles and i got Dad’s hair thinning bald spot gene!

My rehab was to get to New York, and hopefully get me back to work,….
I’m back !! But it’s a lot harder than I ever thought it would be
I’m learning to have lots of rest times while on the job, and limiting myself to 4 hours a day
