FIFTY YEARS AGO — WE SANG THIS SONG
“I See The Universe In A Blade Of Grass” **
I’m exhausted
And wearing paper-thin
I’ve been crying too often
My salty tears
Have dried my skin
Cracked the corners of my eyes
And etched my chin
My retina’s are burning
X-rays through hedges
My troubled bridge is worn
I cannot see the dawn
I sit alone and stare
At this daily glare
From the children over there
Innocent eyes looking sad and bare
Desperate for care
Gasping for free air
** These words are taken from a line in Sean Rowe’s song, The Lonely Maze, 2012.

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

My hero, Jane Goodall said : “Every individual matters. Every individual has a role to play. Every individual makes a difference.” You matter, you are fulfilling your role and you are making a difference! Simon and Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence” has always been a favorite. This Disturbed version is new to me, but I like it. Your poem is touching and beautiful. You put so much of yourself into your poems. Sean Rowe is also new to me, a very lovely piece of music. Thank-you!

I’m Smiling, and liking that I’ve introduced you to new songs, Disturbed’s version is powerful, but I wouldn’t follow him, most of his music is grunge/heavy metal, whereas Sean Rowe is a wonderful singer/songwriter. And yes dear Ellen, I literally poor my emotions into my words, and I’m usually crying all the way through as I’m writing these sorts of poems, but I do like to break away and write my diverse poems, as mentally the heart-wrenching poems wear me paper-thin….. xx

His Version is a good one, but I wouldn’t recommend Disturbed’s music, it’s grunge/heavy-metal.

I agree with you about Disturbed music Ivor. Their “Silence” track is, however, a brilliant piece and very powerful! (just like your words)
