Do you know what I mean
I’m compelled
Not impelled
I’m in a grind
Singularly blind
Do you know what I’ve seen
I’m a slow swimmer
Crawling up river
Mating salmon passing me
Rapids casting me out to sea
Do you know where I’ve been
I’m a lost driver
Unable to deliver
Words unheard, you didn’t read
Wasting another living tree
Do you know what’s the time
I’m now unrequired
Thirsty and tired
Standing on a dry river-bed
Waiting for a dream instead
“I Need You” lyrics
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds Lyrics
“I Need You”
When you’re feeling like a lover
Nothing really matters anymore
I saw you standing there in the supermarket
With your red dressing falling and your eyes are to the ground
Nothing really matters, nothing really matters when the one you love is gone
You’re still in me, baby
I need you
In my heart, I need you
Cause nothing really matters
I’m standing in the doorway
You’re walking ’round my place in your red dress, hair hanging down
With your eyes on one, we love the ones we can
Cause nothing really matters when you’re standing, standing
I need you, need you
Cause nothing really matters
We follow the line of the palms of our hands
You’re standing in the supermarket, nothing, holding hands
In your red dress, falling, falling in, falling in
A long black car is waiting ’round
I will miss you when you’re gone
I’ll miss you when you’re gone away forever
Cause nothing really matters
I thought I knew better, so much better
And I need you
I need you
Cause nothing really matters
On the night we wrecked like a train
Purring cars and pouring rain
Never felt right about, never again
Cause nothing really matters
Nothing really matters anymore, not even today
No matter how hard I try
When you’re standing in the aisle, and no, baby
Nothing, nothing, nothing
I need, I need, I need you
I need you
I need you
Just breathe, just breathe
I need you

Nick Cave writes beautiful ballads, I was nearly going to attach this one, but I thought maybe too sad for a Sunday Morning.
DISTANT SKY SONGTEXT
Let us go now, my one true love
Call the gasman, cut the power out
We can set out, we can set out for the distant skies
Watch the sun
Watch it rising in your eyes
Let us go now, my darling companion
Set out for the distant skies
See the sun, see it rising
See it rising, rising in your eyes
They told us our gods would outlive us
They told us our dreams would outlive us
They told us our gods would outlive us
But they lied
Let us go now, my only companion
Set out for the distant skies
Soon the children will be rising
Will be rising
This is not for our eyes

I feel like after reading your words Ivor, that I should be left feeling confused and unsure.

Well I suppose I was feeling unsure this morning, and sometimes I’m disillusioned and frustrated with poetry blogging, but maybe I expect too much, don’t worry though, it’s just my thoughts .

Well if that was how you were feeling, then you did a good job of ‘saying that’. Because I felt that. π

Know that you are not alone in how you feel, Ivor. I know how you feel. And so do many other people. Your poem expresses it so well.
I believe with all of my heart the tired will find rest…the thirsty will find water…the dry river bed will be filled…and the dream will come. π Always hang on and keep writing your thoughts and feelings into poems! π
HUGS!!! π
PS…I love the Nick Cave vids.

It was the way I was feeling this morning, about blogging with my poetry, tired , frustrated, and confused, but I think I’m expecting too much, and as the day has gone by, I’ve calmed down and realised that not everybody thinks like me or you, and I shouldn’t worry about the few who believe in politics and conglomerates !!

Life is too short to worry about people like that!
Keep smiling, Keep writing, Keep letting your thoughts and feelings flow! π
Hope today is filled with positive energy, joy, and peace!

I probably took a couple of derisive comments to heart too much, I’m ok now, and the simple solution was to take them off my following list……..

oh i am so sorry to hear that, people can be mean, some maybe not intentionally but hurts all the same right. yes just ignore them, they aren’t worth your time at all. you are a beautiful soul and amazing person. some people are just rude. just last week i had someone remark that because I tend to wear black a lot I must be an evil person, I was like what?!! it did jar me for a moment but then i knew i had to move on from that irresponsible comment.

Yes in the end, he wasn’t worth worrying about, and he obviously hadn’t really read my posts/poems about the suffering children of the world….
