As the crow flies
I’m only a stone’s throw away
From here to beyond the skies
Out to the universe’s Milky-way
Where my dream never dies
I’ll keep dreaming
Until I burst at the seams
Drowning all doubters
In my custard and cream
Don’t misjudge my usefulness
Worn is not torn
With love and tenderness
Worn can be reborn
Your spear is the size of a harpoon
Plunging into my tethered heart
Take my leftover hand
Die with me
Burn our crosses
We’ll apply to the devil for a restart

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

I love Sean Rowe! π
OH!!! I think this poem is one of your very best, Ivor!
I relate to it. A lot. I feel the emotion behind it/in it. The visuals it creates in my mind are amazing. I sat here smiling as I read it aloud, and then tears filled my eyes.
HUGS!!! π
PS…Looks like you got those Storm Troopers under control!!! π
PSS…How are you doing today?!

Thank you β€οΈ Carolyn, yes I’ve been a a fan of Sean Rowe’s since 2012, when I bought his album, The Salesman And The Shark. And I’m so pleased you can relate to my poem. My Tit Bits poem are actually taken from in depth comments I’ve made about other bloggers writings, and I rehash them and piece them together to make one poem, this one is from 4 separate comments, depicted by the italics. π I had another hard and cold days work, but having a rest tomorrow, and a chance to do some writing and blogging π

Great photo and poem combination. I especially like,
“Drowning all doubters
In my custard and cream”
An edible, non-violent action against the doubters.

Marvelous poem! I especially love the part “don’t misjudge my usefulness, worn is not torn, with love and tenderness, worn can be reborn”…gives hope to all of us that are showing our wear and tear. You are a storm trooper of the heart. Thank-you!
