Your second chance to be creative. This Weeks Word Prompt: Review
I’ve been mailing off my submissions to magazines and anthologies lately, and I had to Review my comprehensive collection of poems, and go through the process of personally selecting some of my poems for the submissions. And then I have the waiting, waiting to find out if I’ve been successful or NOT !!. I’m not sure how to present the rest of this article, I suppose the form of listing my works to each Magazine/Anthology might show how much time and effort goes into these submission, and why I sometimes shun away from doing submissions, and I also find the whole process personally daunting and taxing on my emotions, putting myself out there is hurdle of confidence that I find hard to jump.
Here’s A list of my Submissions for the month.

What a lot of work you put in, Ivor! But it is worth it! I know it will pay off! Good luck on the submissions! Your poems deserve to be read by many many many people! 🙂
HUGS!!! 🙂
PS…Eons ago, pre-internet, back in the 1980’s, I had two of my poems published in a magazine and they paid me $150. I was so thrilled! But, I’ve never submitted anything since then.

Thank you dear Carolyn, yes I’ve been submitting for years, I’ve had my up and downs, and been published in online magazines, anthologies and a special book back in 2012 called Melpomene, edited by Gwendolyn Taunton, by Numen Books. The book was a collection of Poems, with 4 chapters, Book Of Magic, Book Of Sorrow, Book of Fate, Book of Death, each section contains both new and classical literature dealing with these themes. Authors include, Charles Bauldelaire, Paul Verlaine, William Blake, Edgar Allan Poe, Emily Dickinson, Gwendolyn Taunton, etc… and Ivor Steven !! yep I’m in the same book as an author with all those famous writers… My poem “This Lost Shadow” is in the chapter, Book of Sorrow, called “This Lost Shadow”… actaully I don’t think I can top that one…. Good news today, my poem “Crystal Clear Waters” has been accepted by Vita Brevis Magazine for publication in September. Yeah !! xx. Below a link to my poem, and if you look through my list of poems in my list today, I converted it into the Villanelle poem, “A Single Weeping Tree”. I would love to know your opinion of both of my versions.

YAY for your poems that got accepted! And YAY for you, Ivor! I’m so excited for you!!! 🙂
This Lost Shadow is an amazing poem! It is filled with vivid word-pictures, heartfelt emotions, and is so relatable. How you felt when you wrote it…I am feeling that way now. But, there is so much to be thankful for and life is still beautiful and we still have work to do to make a positive impact on the world. As you share in many of your more recent poems! 🙂
Thanks for sharing the link with me!

Good luck, Ivor. You deserve the recognition. I can so identify with your trepidation about putting yourSELF on the line – for that is what it is

Only up and about a couple of hours Ivor, after reading through this post I am considering going for a lie down. Congratulations firstly on being so articulate my filing is a total mess only thing is I know where everything is. Vita Brevis are a wonderful support. Just one question on sending out your work – is publishing like you have here not jeopardizing you chance of being published in some quarters?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes Chris, I think It does, but most of those quarters don’t seem to be in my half of the apple, I’m happy to have a little sweet piece of the pineapple, rather than eat all the fruit salad containing a rotten banana

You are very brave to put yourself out there into the unknown and I hope that your efforts are rewarded with success. “Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.” – Robert Frost. Fingers and toes are crossed, best wishes as you wait. Thank-you!

Holy bejeesus, man. That’s a lot of submissions, great work!
I need to wad up my courage and follow suit! Funny that you would talk about submitting work, I just got the second rejection letter of my life today. It didn’t sting at all, proof that I’ve grown.

Good girl. Yep rejects are part of the system, like you just roll over and go back to sleep 🙄😉

Well I had a little disappointment of course, but nothing like the walloping my first rejection gave me.
Best of luck in your publishing adventures! ^_^
