Share your poem with me! Written By Gina, of Singledust
“Last week in my feature at the Go Dog Go Cafe I put out a call to write a poem to introduce yourself. the idea was formed from a spoken word poetry meet I attended.
If it inspires you to write one, Pingback to here or my Come Sit With Me post and I will feature it this week at the Cafe!
No word limit but….you know what I mean!
I would really like to read who you are in your own words!
Here’s my poem, about me, Ivor.
About Me, And My Links <<< Click Here For Gina’s Post.
How to write a poem about me
The boy who lives by the sea
As a youngster, I was not a loud speaker
Just shy and quiet, a daytime dreamer
With visions of yesteryear well-preserved
Good times, on the beach and in the surf
I loved Vegemite, honey and ice-cream
And my life became just a little dream
Looking at the mirror of a calm bay
I see sun-burnt freckles and dark hair, that turned grey
Struggling, life was disappearing after my Stroke
Emotionally I was crying out, who’s left to row the boat
Needing strength, my stars echoed, “I Do Thee Shine”
Now I’m left with these words of mine
Recalling all of the days in my time
Leaving my empty hands full, of memories and rhymes
Ivor Steven (c) 2018
A lovely intro. I liked the mirror device

Wow! That was a brilliant idea – to write a poem which incorporated the titles of all those other poems which describe you!

oh Jane, you’ve made my day, I wasn’t sure it would work properly, it’s always had to join up titles and make flow ok. xxxx wow , Ivor got called brilliant… hmmm….. maybe Leonard’s listening….

love how you presented yourself here Ivor. I can imagine you reading this out loud to much happy applause. lovely to know we both have a connection with the sea. very creative once again with the links in your verses, it really tells of the real you. I humbly thank you for taking up the challenge! you are the most enigmatic poem!

Oh thanks so much Gina, I didn’t think it was going to work, when I came up with the idea of the links to my poems telling my story. It’s the first time I’ve used multiple links in a post, and I found the task a bit daunting, but I’m pleased with the result.

your efforts so paid off, as daunting as they were it seemed effortless from my end. you should be very pleased!

Definitely not effortless, I made lots of link transfer errors, but as you say, my poem is a good reward for my stubborn persistence to achieve a good conclusion for my crazy idea, hehehe….

A poem about yourself, what a great idea! I do this with my German students and they always come up with very good poems, but yours is really beautiful. It occurred to me that I also wrote about myself, at least a part of myself is on this post ( the voice in itallics is pretty much like my alter ego, especially in the poem): https://momentsbloc.wordpress.com/2018/03/11/fear-of-intimacy/

It’s really easy to write a picture on exhibition cause really I’m a flat screen with high definition…true colors never fade…I can write
about whole new world…bad tell about its tales…..I can be sad cause I feel too much or sad truths about the world..mixed with passion and spirit
I am my own delight

On and On We Go
every second, a commitment
every breath, a moment
every moment, a feeling
every feeling has a heartbeat
and the beat goes on and on
a soft beat to every step, to and fro
and step by step the moments go
a quest for answers never stops
until our eternal sun drops
