There’s A Dog In My Bed

Laying beside me, she quietly snores

Upon my pillow, her out-stretched fluffy paws

Slowly she awakes, breakfast is due

Nuzzling my face, come-on you !

Looking straight at me, friendly brown eyes

Wagging her tail, she’s forever loving and shy

Long golden ears, flip and flop

Smooches and cuddles, she never stops

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. Gotta love our four-footed babies, don’t we! We used to watch my sister’s black lab when they’d go on vacation. I always wondered what she did after we left for work. I forgot my purse one morning and had to come back in the house. There Ruby was, already asleep on our bed with her head on Arn’s pillow. That dog was as big as a person! Affectionate enough to pert near kill ya. She thought she was a lap dog.

  2. Cracking tune Ivor, that era was a magic music time.

    He doesn’t speak
    My how he can smile
    Reaching out the paw
    Shakes hands
    Enjoys nothing more than
    Chasing hang gliding gulls
    As they survey us
    Not just mans best friend
    Also our night watchman.

I don’t have to tell you to enjoy China.
