A Single Weeping Tree (A Villanelle) – A Poem by Ivor Steven

Great news this morning, my poem “A Single Weeping Tree”(A Villanelle), has been published by Wolff Poetry/A Go-To Literary Journal. A Villanelle is a nineteen-line poem with two rhymes throughout, consisting of five tercets and a quatrain, with the first and third lines of the opening tercet, repeated throughout the poem. G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Oh, I meet a nurse by purchance yesterday, that me and Carole knew from 30 years ago, she looked after Carole, at the Day Care Centre, and she remembered Carole and me so well, we ended up chatting for 2 hours, all about Carole, my girl had left a big lasting impression on her (Denise). Truly a lovely catch up. 😊 😊 ❤️ 💕

  7. Congratulations! What a beautiful, bittersweet poem. I love the images you used and that last line….❤️ I haven’t heard of this poem form before. It seems challenging but your words rose to the occasion. Splendid work!

      2. Oh, I have quit a few poems that get published, but Linda Wolff has been supporting and encouraging me since i Started blogging, so to have a poem on her newly established Poetry Journal is very special to me xxx

    A wonderful pairing with Carole’s lovely painting! I got teary-eyed thinking about her conceiving what she would paint and them putting it on canvas with her hands.
