I’m digging a tunnel
With my ball and chain
Underneath the great wall
Towards the east side of the moon
Away from these wasted days
Beyond the drain of pain
My eyes search for a light
Through my grotto’s ceiling crack
Resolutely my heart yells at me
“There’s no turning back”
Fingers are bloodied
Toes are blistered
My throat is parched
Lips are sweat covered with dirt
I’m desperate for the evening rain
And a cooling breeze
Fresh upon my old crusty skin
I’m to meet a mystic Arab
Cloaked in cloth of indigo blue
He’s been sent by Muhammad to save me
Burst me free, and find my lost kin

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Hi Kate, I’m to stay in isolation for maybe 2 more days, until I’m cleared of having TB, its a slow process, but I’m feeling quite reasonable today, although very weak and tired πππ

good then see it as an opportunity to catch up on sleep, rest, snooze … whatever to recover your energy for a return home … you know that you go full pace once you’re out so this is a much needed enforced rest!

a very happy ending, he found the love of his life and the treasure his heart was seeking, I have read it so many times and gifted to my family and friends, the most profound book ever to me. magical realism and tender romance, just beautiful words every line

Hello Ivor, Iβve read the comments, you have so many people worried about you on here.
Keep that chin up, and keep up with the recovery. I’m sure your doctors will share the news just as soon as they have a definite diagnosis. It must be frustrating for you. Oh, I enjoyed your poem , how do you manage to think up all these lovely verses you keep treating us to? π

Hi Dear Sue, I’m going ok, I’ll probably be in isolation for 2 more days, but my team of Doctors are working hard on my situation. As for my poetry, well I’ve got plenty of time to myself here. And my unusual hospital environment has supplied with plenty of subject matter, and my crazy imagination does the rest
A Haiku for youπ
Four walls surround me
Isolation inundates
Permeates my head

Not everything is black and white and somethings are harder to diagnose than others, I hope your great medical team find the answers soon. Love my Haiku and thank you π
