I cry at what I cannot see
But don’t worry too much
That’s just me
I am soft of heart
I am tender of soul
I smile while I cry
The world’s reflection, crying within me
That’s just me, asking why
There’s the earth beneath my feet
There’s the sky above my eyes
Eyes that see rain fall on the trees
Creating life, like my backyard bees
Feet that feel, sand between my toes
Travelling to where my life must go

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

“I smile while I cry” . You have packed this one so much imagery, and so many lines I love, but the one I quote is my favorite of all. It touches me on more than one level, but it punches me with its wisdom.
Thanks for sharing! And I’m relieved to hear you are out of the hospital.

You’re well on your way Ivor. For some reason the line “Feet that feel, sand between my toes” really appeals to me.

Hi Colleen, I’ve been checking my spam, and I’ve found lots of your comments on my posts here, I’m not sure how this happens, but if it continues I’ll have to go to WordPress for help….
Anyhow .. Thank you for your lovely comment…

You are welcome. No worries. I have had that happen. A couple of months ago all of Peter’s comments were going to spam. I had to keep retrieving them. It happens. Then it stops. Then it happens again! 😉

Oh, I hope it doesn’t happen again 🤔🤗

It was a very lovely poem Ivor. You have been through such a lot lately, it’s hardly surprising that you’re feeling emotional. 🙂

Tender hearts are also strong, and a man who can smile and cry (great line) is rare and to be cherished. My guy is one of those tender hearts too. “I’ve learned it is the weak who are cruel, and that gentleness is to be expected only from the strong.” Leo Roston ♥.
