Cracks Fading Into Dust

I’d like to thank Gina, of Singledust, for reminding me of an old poem of mine. Her glorious poem, “dying dreams” inspired me to write an answer to my poem “A Crack In The Wall”.

Cracks Fading Into DustΒ 

 

Long ago, I lay bruised, on a pebble beach

The jagged rocks, had cut me deeply

I remained, bleeding and afraid

Beached, unable to row with my torn pieces

 

The cracks sharp edges, are now blunt

Ancient dark chasms, softened by time

And filled with yesteryear’s tears

Light ascends from the opaque holes

And glowing lustre, hovers over old fears

I see clear visions beyond the front door

And distant dreams, becoming realities

I’m done, hurdling fences and stone walls

The lifelong barriers are turning into dust

And her lost love, will be my last supper

    It’s important to take time to honor the cracks/scars because they show that we have lived, loved, survived and will thrive.

      1. I met you when you had been blogging just a couple of months and last night I was thinking about how sad your poems used to be back then. You lived in your past and wrote so much about Carole. Many of them seemed to be almost a cry for help.

        Today despite months of illness your poems are about hope and determination and are so much happier. You’ve come a long way Ivor. πŸ™‚ xx

      2. Yes I’m definitely happier within myself, despite my health setbacks. I’m enjoying what I’m doing and a few life long dreams are coming true πŸ˜πŸ˜€πŸ€”
