Weekly Photo Prompt: Featured Image.
Hi dear Helene, I’ve yet to participate in one of your weekly photo prompts, and I found your photo fascinating, and my I wrote this poem for your prompt.
My Neighbour Wasn’t Mowing His Lawn
I saw a sign, painted by His hand
The words, I did not understand
I thought why ? another old brick wall
Ascending the crooked ladder, too afraid to fall
There I stood alone, and stared
Above the galaxy’s glare
My retina’s were burning
Last night’s moon had p
My neighbour wasn’t mowing his lawn
I then saw the universe
Oblivion, in a blade of grass

The neighbor wasn’t mowing his lawn, fascinates me Ivor. This feels topsy turvy, like I should not feel secure while reading it.

The photo prompt stirred my imagination, and it went with what I believe will happen, if us stupid humans don’t change our greedy ways and stop bleeding the earth dry……..

The prompt picture was a great spur for me, and of course I believe we need to drastically change our present greedy ways of bleeding our earth dry before she has no more tears to cry

well said Ivor, totally agree, that’s how we should be!

Another good one and totally understood. We are bleeding it dry!
I tried to follow your link to the originator of this challenge but the link didn’t
work.

What we do to the earth in general breaks my heart on a daily basis. For my own mental health I should probably try not to dwell on it so much, but it is hard not to.

That’s the problem, every day we walk the ground, breathe the air, and still they do not see

I love what you did with this prompt! The universe in a blade of grass… very unique!

Oh not so unique, but it’s lovely line I took from a Sean Rowe song “Lonely Maze”, and I’ve since used the words a few times

It works very well in your poem just the same!

Amazing where you went with this prompt Ivor. I love the line, “my neighbour wasn’t mowing his lawn”… we are definitely doing injustice to this poor world. Some of us are waking up but will it be enough. Thank you for the inspiration Ivor.

Yes you definitely stirred my thoughts on this one,…. Hopefully we will start to change our greedy ways and stop bleeding mother earth dry, until she’s no more tears to cry.

Oh, my sort of topic Punam, our planet’s health needs all support she can get, a lot of human’s are far too greedy to see our future path

This is an interesting poem, Ivor. It’s like an emotional puzzle. Oblivion in a blade of grass: one has to get close to it to see it. I like it. 🙂

Thank you Robert, “I see the universe in a blade of grass” is a favourite line of mine and I’ve used it couple of times in the past

Oh Irma, I’m so pleased you liked my intentions of the last, actually the poem is a metaphorical piece about our disdain of mother nature.

Oh yes, I got that part! And those who don’t care for Mother Nature deserve a punch in the gut! 😉

A fascinating take on the prompt, Ivor. I love anything that spans the gap between the microcosm and macrocosm and how in a way there’s no distinction at all. The last line was sublime. Wonderful writing.
