White Clouds Over Forest Floor Snail Trails

I remember the days well

When I could hear the ringing of bluebells

And the horizon, was an aqua clear skyline

Splashed with drifting, pristine shrines

The fertile ranges, enriched by His grapevines

Growing on posts and wires, green living enzymes

Now everywhere, there’s poles, cables and yellow floodlights

Feeding hungry digital mealtimes, instead of stargazers under the moonlight

Oh, to again see clouds glide with full white sails

Moving slow enough to observe, a forest floor’s snail trails

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

    1. I suppose I try look at the meaning of what I see, not the superficial look of what I see…. Like one of my favourite lines,…. “Night is not always black, you know”

  1. I think you are getting better and better, Ivor. Your imagery really works, and your words are concise while descriptive to the max. (I feel like a teacher!) Keep them coming, my friend!

    1. Haha, thank you, Master Claudia, some pieces flow out well, and this was one of the those, I was going to add a few more lines, but in the end the original 10 lines seemed to work the best

    1. Oh, that’s lovely, you liking that line. In the comments on my poem, nearly every line has been separately mentioned by my readers, this is a very pleasing aspect of my poem, and I’m over the moon with how my words have been received. Looks like the work might be good to submit to a few magazines 😁🤔💚

      2. It was my first submission in 9 months, when I became sick, all that time ago
The process of submissions, is quite a arduous task for me, and shying away from them, and not putting myself through all the pressures of rejections. I was totally committed to getting better again 😁 xx, and thank you for all your kind support during my rehab

      1. Thank you Punam, for your encouragement, I appreciate your support, It all helps with my lack of self confidence these days…… Everything I do is a still a physical battle… even writing is a task,… but I’m pushing myself everyday to do a little bit more………

  2. Such powerful vivid images and an important message! And I love the rhyme-ness! I read this one out loud twice! 🙂
When we take the time to really look around as we commune with nature, we see the most amazing things! And we are encouraged! 🙂
I doNOT like how mankind has encroached upon nature. I am so happy to live rural and to be able to see the blue sky in the daytime, the land that rolls on for miles, the moon and stars at night, ETC. Nature is way better for our hearts, minds, and souls than pavement, streetlights, tall buildings, etc.
    HUGS for a sunny day!!!

      1. Oh your encouragement will have me submitting it tomorrow
And great news today, my poem ‘Dreams of The Heart’ has been accepted for publication with Spillwords magazine. Yeah… I’ve not done any submissions for nearly 9 months, when I first became sick…. Doing submissions for magazines is quite a task for me. Let alone the stress of forever waiting, for the rejection /or the ok from the publisher. I put all my energy’s into going on my trip and trying to get myself fit enough…..

  3. Great observation, Ivor! Wherever we seem to go there is some sort of pole or wires obscuring the view. I know communication is important & now, even more so than ever, but in some places they have taken over. I love, “Feeding hungry digital mealtimes, instead of stargazers under the moonlight” indeed they do! Hopefully, one day, there will be another way & we’ll still all be able to keep in contact, but also keep our beautiful views intact & not a tangled wood of communication poles!

    1. A morning walks observations and imagination, haha, trying to avoid standing on the snails. My words have have attracted plenty of attention and comments, and each has been separately mentioned as a readers favourite. I’m amazed at it’s popularity, maybe it’s good for a magazine submission.
I’ve only done one submission, last week, since I was sick, 9 months ago.
I’ve been putting all my energy’s into recovering and going on my trip
I find submissions quite a task, let alone the stress of having to wait for the rejections/acceptance of my poem with publishers.
Good news last week’s submission has been accepted by Spillwords Magazine. My poem, “Dreams of The Heart” will be published on 22nd July.. Yeah… I’m so very happy, and it’s a good poem
Maybe this one is ok too !!

      1. That’s great news, Ivor..congratulations on the magazine publication! 👏👏👏 It’s worth considering another try, if you feel up to it. I can understand you taking it easy though, if it causes you stress, especially if it’s originally for something enjoyable, like writing a poem!

      2. Yes, sometimes the process of submissions, is not worth the stress, but I’m pleasantly surprised with how I coped, and hopefully with my recovery still improving, this is a good sign for me 😁💜
