Is It only me ?
that feels this way
my thoughts gushing out to sea
without knowing what to say
our world is being flushed
down the sewer drain
water-rat politicians eating leftover crusts
every-time our dying clouds rain
never ending, poisoning of the bays
strangling plastic bags
suffocating polystyrene trays
wrapped in bloody newspaper flags
animals killed by our waste
governments retain their ego for greed
T.V. and press reports, via copy and paste
while our planet’s going to seed
are we trying our best ?
for the creatures in need
stop, this shitting, on our own nest
how much more can the oceans bleed ?

So good, but so tragic Ivor.

I was watching one of those documentary’s and I had to write something, they are so upsetting. We are not worthy hosts of this planet

We can’t just blame the governments. Each individual who litters, tosses trash in the ocean, out the car window, piles it up in the backyard, neglects recycling…. the governments can’t fix what ‘we’ keep doing. We have to fix ‘our’ actions. Which makes me think of the new movements of people cleaning up beaches and oceans …. have you seen these? It is SO encouraging!!!

Yes I’ve seen those movements, I actually bought a ” United By Blue ” coffee mug in Philadelphia….look them up, they’re a ocean clean-up group….

I’ve seen them!!!! I love that people are inspiring one another to do this. THe differences are stunning.

βAre we trying our best?β No!!! There is so much more we can do (myself included) to take better care of our planet. We should gather our poetic voices and make a book called protest poems for the earth – all proceeds go to an environmental program.

I love your idea Irma, and yes we can always do more…

No, it’s not only you. I can see it and I care.
Such a true and poignant message in your poem, Ivor.
It’s so sad that human-beans are taking so many beautiful creatures down. π¦ And in the process human-beans will take themselves down, too.
We must each do more! We can do better!

I have these outbursts and rants, but better said, than left unsaid, and have them stew inside my head
