When I’m physically able
And feeling stable
I like to stroll down my dead-end lane
Study the sky’s weather vane
Through the shapes of clouds to come
And by the brightness of the setting sun
Shredding prisms of light, today’s benediction
Bright red or dull grey, tomorrow’s true prediction
Here’s a fading horizon, nature’s ballet
Indicating storms are on the way
My camera captures a jilted twilight
At nightfall I see dusk’s mingling sights
A shadowed treeline, merges into the clouds dark kites
And I stand here witnessing sundown’s flight

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Sundown’s flight. How inspirational. I haven’t taken much time to write lately, but your words keep me in shape!

Lovely poem, Ivor. Today I made a promise to my soul to nurture her with nature every day. It has been starved for it these many years. Just a simple walk down the lane or a sit in the sun fills the soul, doesn’t it? β₯.

π, my MRI this afternoon,… They should have found my brain by now, after all these MRI’s, it’s a wonder the big magnets haven’t sucked all my words out of the head, and hidden them in the hospital shed. π₯ππ

Haha, I initially read that as hospital shred! Fitted well too π
Hope the MRI goes well for you, I will catch up in the morning, mine that is. Just after 10:30 PM here.

Your poem captures that time of the day beautifully and perfectly, Ivor!
That is one of my favorite times of the day to walk, breathe, meditate, observe nature, etc.! To say “good night” to the sun and “welcome” to the moon can be “saving” in so many ways! π
HUGS!!! π
PS….How did your testing go?! I hope you passed with flying colors and smiles! π
