I’ve walked a thousand lonely miles
Looking for her everlasting smile
Gradually scaling Ararat’s steepest cliff
There, sipping from the grail’s cup of youth
I’ve travelled to the edge of time
To find the final word of rhyme
Where my sunrise soared into the sky
To recapture her last goodbye
Then I crawled on my hands
Searching for that broken line in the sand
I’ve dug myself a hole, deep into space
To join her spirit and grace
Releasing my star into the universe
And I awoke, to write more of this verse

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Your poem reminds me of the Enya song “Pilgrim.” Are you familiar with it, Ivor? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XaQnYSbgnM0) Lovely poem…

I like to think of friends as holding hands and making a “raft”. Sometimes we are holding hands while a friend is on the “raft” and other times we are the one on the “raft” while our friends are holding us up high and safe! π
Right now, we are holding you up high and safe, with love, Ivor! π
