Close-up and personal, yep, these are photos of cobwebs hanging up around in my place, which I took for this weeks photo prompt: The Saturday photo challenge here on Weekly Prompts is : Close

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer. I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

  1. What a great idea, and there was I thinking you were going to do flowers! Lovely little Haiku and I love those webs, have you been saving them for a rainy day?

The window at the back of my garage is full of webs and dust I’ve been letting it all build up for a long while just so that each Halloween I can take photos of them! 🙂

    1. I just the photos after I read about the prompt, and I wrote the Haiku for the photo prompt……. I was looking at the cobwebs on my window when we had a chat a few hours ago…. Then the idea hit me….

  2. I love looking at spiderwebs & how different some are. There’s some very ornate ones there! We’ve been watching one on our window, in particular, with the spider in wait! I’m guessing you get some very scary ones where you are, Ivor? I’d be running a mile lol! 😂

      1. I don’t know how friendly my spiders are or are not…. some have come to meet me and I must not have paid attention and they bit me to make themselves known. 😉 It’s my year of bug bites for sure!!!

  3. Ivor, just thought you should know that when you reschedule a post, one where you have already created a pingback, the link to your page from Weekly Prompts no longer functions.

This is because your page address has now changed. Each page URL contains a date. The pingback on Weekly Prompts attempts to link to the first one but gets Oops this page no longer exists!

A bit like when my link failed because my date was wrong yesterday. Our challenge was written in advance back in July and the page URL copied and pasted. I usually edit the date before publishing but forgot this weekend. 🙂

      1. You are correct – The first time was unsuccessful because of my error. The second time it worked because as you say you copied the correct URL from our page.

However, the pingback that is now present on Weekly Prompts no longer works because it was was linked to your article before you later re-posted it.

This is the URL of your page, the one Weekly Prompts is linked to, note the date.
        https://ivors20.wordpress.com/2019/08/31/welcome-to-my-web/

After you re-posted Welcome to MY Web, your own URL changed to the one below
        https://ivors20.wordpress.com/2019/09/01/welcome-to-my-web/

Your first was published on 31/08 but you reposted on 01/09, this changed the address of your page.

As you can see the date has changed therefore anyone clicking the pingback on Weekly Prompts gets the message Oops this page cannot be found!
