Walking barren pastures of sand
With only detergent hands
Old arms are empty of nature’s seeds
I only see, future investment greed
And history’s lessons, are hard to understand
When we’re taught, disrespect by corporate bands
Who only extinguish life, and fracture our lands
Instead of regenerating our planet’s, last stand

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Powerful, poignant, and timely, Ivor! Thank you for writing this and sharing it!
Those trees in your photos are stunning! I wonder how old they are. ???
And the song is perfect!
I often wonder if human-beans not taking loving and proper care of nature…trees, plants, animals, etc…has resulted in them now not even caring for other people. π¦

I took the pic’s at the Botanical Gardens in Ballarat, the trees are about 160 years old….. And they suited my poem beautifully… Like Melanie’s superb song…. πΆπ€π

Oh, how wonderful!
It’s so amazing how long trees can live if properly cared for…soil, rain, sun, humans appreciating them. π I wonder what stories the trees would tell if they could talk in words. ???

Oh these magnificent trees witnessed the historic gold rush era in Ballarat and I’m sure they have would know some glorious colonial stories from the 1860’s……. xxxx ((Hugs))

So so true Ivor. Our planets needs more attunement and less profit mongering.

And that, is how we ruin our own, living environment without realizing, that this earth is out on loan, from our children, their children, and the children of next generations…

Yes… It’s Time…..
Its Time
We’ll miss you,
Mother Earth.
Your splendour,
And imposing style.
From forest canopy’s,
To the desert Nile.
New creations,
Beauty, gone.
We’ll lose you,
Father Time.
Your rhythm,
And stoic guile.
From ancient history,
To the future files.
New millennia,
Awaiting, gone.

Wonderful piece, Ivor. I don’t understand those that don’t appreciate our planet. Where would they be without Mother Earth?

I’m sad about the things we will never see because we destroyed them all.

I so wish for attitudes to change soon, there’s far too much acceptance that our situation is ok…..

I’ve been out again, a bit of walking, some shopping, took a few photos, went to the garden shop and then did some gardening, cooked barbequed fish for dinner… and here I am writing again……. The words seem to be flowing out of fingers, and I’ve already written a couple of poems today…. yep…. I’m feeling good…… xxxx ((Hugs))
