A few years ago, I was fortunate to have a girlfriend called Sue
This morning I was listening to this tune on YouTube
And I thought, isn’t life intriguing, how songs can trigger our memories
The happy and sad times, of many hidden stories
I’ve always been a respectful man, and in my mind, the secrets will stay
And I’ll continue on my way, with a smile in my heart, remembering the good days
The song by “Dirty Three”, featuring Warren Ellis on violin…… and Warren is the violinist for Nick Cave’s backing band “The Bad Seeds”…..enjoy….

G'day, and welcome to my blog site. My name is Ivor Steven, I live in Geelong, Australia. I'm an ex-industrial chemist, and a retired plumber, and a former Carer of my wife(Carole), for 30 years, who suffered from severe MS. I Write poetry about those personal thoughts, throughout and beyond my life as a Carer.
I've been blogging for over 2 years, and writing poems for 19 years. Of course a lot of my poems are about my favourite subject Carole, but since I've been blogging my writings have become quite varied, humourous, mystical, observational, and even a few monster/horror poems.

Oh Sue….. but I do see her once every couple of months… she’s the owner of (our) lovely doggie Cyndi….. that beautiful white and bronze Cavalier. I actually bought Cyndy for for Sue as a gift, from the lost dog’s home…..

π Thank you, Sue! One of my best friends in primary school was also Carolyn Sue…so to not get us mixed up in class, she chose to go by Sue. π She said that’s what they called her at home. π

I was always Susan at home and my husband never called me anything else. When I began working in school I became SueW due to sharing my name with three others. Mostly my friends call me Sue apart from those friends I shared with my husband. π

That’s a lot of Sue’s in one spot! π
I rarely meet any Carolyns, but I’ve met many Sues…and now that I think about it..all of the Sue’s have been sweet and fun! π

Ivor, I know you still see Sue, I remember you telling me the story and I think it’s wonderful that you’re still such good friends.
I was actually answering Peter’s comment about his lost Susan, I should get into the habit of using the person’s name, it can get confusing after a while! π

I’m glad you liked the song. The Dirty Three are an award winning group here in Australia, Warren Ellis is a very talented musician. π€ππ

This is a beautiful posting, Ivor…your words, photo, and the song.
Yes, music can transport us back in time, so quickly…ignite our memories and emotions!
Keep smiling! Keep remembering the good days…and celebrate them, but, also, celebrate that there are MANY more good days ahead! π
HUGS!!! π
PS…my middle name is Sue. π

My family called me Caroline growing up. But it’s officially Carolyn Sue. Guess What? I was named after a nun who befriended my parents and was nice to them. My parents were not Catholic.
